I hate war as much as anyone, probably more, especially when they are senseless wars conducted for no other reason than no one was around with the guts enough to stop them or those who started them. With that said, everyone has to know that some wars are simply unavoidable, because a tyrant intent on making war doesn’t give his victim a choice in the matter.
That’s where we find the world in regard to Ukraine and Russia. Putin wants what Ukraine has and so, Ukraine has no choice but fight or surrender and die and even slower death. Already we see prison camps in Russian occupied Eastern Ukraine and their torture chambers.
Tyranny is in the ascendant not just in Russia and China but even the European Union too, which makes it hard to want to side with them on anything; but we still have a chance to turn things around in Europe as the new alt right and populist movements are now taking hold to some degree in places like Germany and France [the U.K. appears it will present much more work]. Since my title is bound to inspire criticism that I’m a “God botherer,” I’ll preface what follows by stating that I wasn’t always the halo-adorned, floating-in-the-ether desert mystic (without the sand or heat) you behold today. I wasn’t raised with faith, and as a 12-year-old was an agnostic who’d say, “I’d never believe or disbelieve in anything there’s no proof of.” Later on I’d be rather dismissive of theists, actually, viewing them as God botherers myself, though we didn’t have that term or as many Richard Dawkins-like secularist warriors back then. I suppose we were, relatively speaking, handicapped in our exercise of supercilious anti-theism.

Trump to Release 80,000 Pages of JFK Files on Tuesday
President Trump announced he will release 80,000 pages of unredacted files Tuesday about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, after promising on the campaign trail to declassify the documents.
“While we’re here, I thought it would be appropriate – we are, tomorrow, announcing and giving all of the Kennedy files. So, people have been waiting for decades for this, and I’ve instructed my people … lots of different people, [Director of National Intelligence] Tulsi Gabbard, that they must be released tomorrow,” the president told reporters while touring the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
“You got a lot of reading. I don’t believe we’re going to redact anything. I said, ‘just don’t redact, you can’t redact,’” the president said, adding it will be about 80,000 pages that he described as “interesting.”
He said he has “heard about them” when asked if he has seen what’s in the files; he added, “I’m not doing summaries, you’ll write your own summary.” Continue reading

Walt Disney’s full-color animated cartoon, “Snow White,” premiered in 1937. It was a huge, groundbreaking success both at the box office and among critics. The movie garnered a special Academy Award and the Disney company was saved from bankruptcy. Disney went on to spend $4.5 million on a studio in Burbank California, where many more successes were created.

‘Oopsie… Too Late‘: White House Mocks Federal Judge After Ignoring Anti-Deportation Order
Heah come de Judge!
White House communications director Steven Cheung appeared to mock a federal judge who ordered the Trump administration to return deportation flights to the United States.
In a court hearing on Saturday, U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg said that two flights carrying immigrants to El Salvador and Honduras should be immediately turned around. The judge also issued a temporary order barring the administration from using an 18th-century law to justify additional deportations.
The Associated Press reported on Sunday that the flight did not return to the U.S. despite the judge’s order. Continue reading

Trump Is Right: The World Health Organization Isn’t Working

One of the first actions of the new Trump administration was to withdraw from the World Health Organization. Many public health advocates quickly raised alarm bells, citing longstanding arguments about the importance of the agency and what the U.S. stood to lose by withdrawing its membership and money.
It is unlikely that these advocates paused to consider that leaving the WHO is exactly the disruption needed after years of reform efforts that were long on talk but short on results. Department of Education to Cut Half Its Workforce
The cost-saving measures also include closing all offices in places including New York, Boston, Dallas, Chicago, and San Francisco.

The U.S. Department of Education on March 11 announced that 1,315 employees – about half its workforce – will be laid off within 90 days as part of its ongoing cost-saving measures.
A senior official told reporters in a press call that the staff reduction addresses redundancies in the communications, human resources, information technology, and other offices within the department.
The affected workers were to be notified via email at 6 p.m. on March 11. The Washington, D.C., office will be closed on March 12 for safety protocols, and the senior official said the workers are expected to work remotely with full pay and benefits through March 21. They will then be placed on administrative leave, with pay, through June 9. Continue reading
