What In the World Has Happened To The America We Grew Up In?

It has been but just a few months since I put pen to paper and wrote and posted the following, and yet it seems to grow in importance with each passing day. Read it for the first time, or read it again. The end draws near. People, get ready… ~ Ed.

To Granny and Cat…

April 9, 2019 ~ I have been in a state of proverbial ‘funk’ for nearly a year now. You’ll remember last July when I had made the decision to shut down Federal Observer after seventeen years of publication – only to slowly change gears for God knows what reason. Over these past nine-plus months, the site – although looking much the same – has taken new directions – or in some cases readdressing old topics – which still drive me to this day. I’ll not draw you a map today – you may review the site on your own time and come to your own conclusion… and that is where I stand at this point – conclusions – or more specifically – the Conclusion of this once great nation. MAGA? Forget it – it will never happen. We near the end of the journey. Continue reading

Last Rites for the Promised Land!

Grammy Award Winning Cover art: Evelyn Kelbish

February 7, 2019 ~ Over the past few years I have been reaching further back into my personal history specifically with memories of my youth and my time spent in Country while flying over the rice-paddies and picking up wounded soldiers, civilians and enemy combatants.

Recently I realized that a song which I had considered to be my theme song from those 21 months ~ Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida was released within days of my arrival for the Adventure of a lifetime. You’ll note that it is also a permanent audio fixture of this site in the right-hand column. Some additional thoughts on the song I have also penned as part of the description of our category, ‘Nam – Some Came Home: Continue reading

Hickman: The “ONE BIG BEAUTIFUL” Tax Bill Is the Opposite of What America Needs

In the year 428 BC, ancient Athenians imposed a special tax called the eisphora that targeted local business investments in the city-state.

It was expensive and highly unpopular among investors. And wealthy Athenians simply stopped investing in local businesses to avoid the tax.

This is almost an iron-clad lesson of history: whenever governments tax something, they end up with less of it. And the inverse is also true: whenever governments subsidize or cut taxes on something, they end up with more of it. Continue reading

Just Rip The Constitution to Shreds While You’re at It

People cannot believe Trump’s latest statement on religion in the government

“They say ‘separation between church and state,’ they told me. I said, alright, let’s forget about that for one time.”

On Thursday Trump signed an executive order creating a presidential commission on religious liberty. During the White House event, he openly questioned the principle of separation between church and state.

In a clip circulating on social media from the event, Trump said of his faith advisors, “They work right out of the White House. That’s never been done before. No other president allowed that. They say ‘separation between church and state,’ they told me. I said, alright, let’s forget about that for one time.” Continue reading

Dickens: Oh Well… We The People

Merkans are deeply fascinated, spellbound by politics, to the point where their attention is completely absorbed and they are unable to think about anything else. It’s a state of intense interest or attraction, often accompanied by a sense of being entranced or captivated.

Why do we tolerate it?

The intro music answers it: America is Mesmerized:

– holding the attention of someone to the exclusion of all else – transfixed

– in a hypnotic or trancelike state; hypnotized

– having the attention completely absorbed; fascinated, captivated, or spellbound

The average person spends roughly 70 minutes daily consuming news and another 143 minutes on ‘not-so’ social media each day. That’s the hold the media has on our society. Continue reading

Full List of Drugs That Could Be Slashed Under Trump’s New Executive Order

President Trump touted a new executive order that would more closely align drug prices in the US with those sold in Europe and the UK, opening the door for drugs used by millions of Americans to become cheaper.

The EO does not specify which drugs will be targeted but a similar policy proposed by Trump in 2020 included drugs administered in hospitals or clinics under Medicare Part B, which covers inpatient drugs for seniors. However, that policy was blocked by a federal judge who ruled the government had overstepped its bounds by sidestepping Congress. Continue reading

Is Trump Out of Touch, Senile, Nuts, or Something Worse?

It was the cringiest of times. It was the craziest of times.

Do-Whack-a-Doo-doo-doo!

Welcome to a moment in which one of the most consequential debates Americans (and people the world across) are having is about whether the President of the United States is just a national embarrassment or has full-on blown a gasket. Is Donald Trump just three fries short of a happy meal, or is he full-on howling-at-the-moon mad? Continue reading

They’re Gonna Confine Him‘: Legal Expert Flags Evidence Supreme Court Will Rein Trump In

Heah cum de Judges…

The U.S. Supreme Court has in some instances failed to issue negative orders against Donald Trump, but that could happen very soon, a legal expert said on Sunday.

Legal expert Norm Eisen, who worked in the White House as special counsel and special assistant to the president for ethics and government reform, is also known for being a thorn in the president’s side. Continue reading

Letting Illegal Aliens Back Into The U.S. Legally Is Not A Good Idea

No Mas!

Earlier this week, president Donald Trump said that illegal aliens to take up his offer to self deport for $1,000, may have a chance to return to the U.S. someday legally.

“No, it’s not the answer” said Jessica Vaughan with the Center for Immigration Studies, “Legal immigration and illegal immigration right now are almost like two sides of the same coin.” Continue reading

Trump Redirects Funds From Illegals to Homeless Veterans

… again putting Americans first!

The president signed an Executive Order Friday establishing a center for housing homeless veterans in the Los Angeles area, and whatever funding has been used by the federal government to house illegal aliens is now to go to this center for veterans. Trump also started a voucher program and announced reform at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), expanding medical services for vets and investigating corruption and misconduct from the previous administration. Finally, our veterans are a priority for the federal government. Continue reading

Whitehead ~ How a President Becomes a Dictator: by Executive Order!

“We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.” ~ Ayn Rand

130 executive orders in under 100 days.

Sweeping powers claimed in the name of “security” and “efficiency.”

One president acting as lawmaker, enforcer, and judge.

No debate. No oversight. No limits.

This is how the Constitution dies – not with a coup, but with a pen.

The Unitary Executive Theory is no longer a theory – it’s the architecture of a dictatorship in motion. Continue reading

Ross: The Paper Prison

(An Essay Inspired by Gill Saunders)

Have you ever noticed how time sometimes seems to drag by at a snails pace, then before you know it, ten, even twenty, years have passed? So it is with my first glimpse into the realm of the dark side, as I’ve taken to calling it; my first introduction into the world of conspiracy theories. It sometimes seems as if it was just a short while ago that I first watched Aaron Russo’s documentary, From Freedom To Fascism. I still pull that dvd of that film out from time to time to watch it; if, for no other purpose, than to see just how far down the rabbit hole I’ve traveled. Continue reading

Smith: China’s Existential Threat to America

America may never go to war with China. But then again, with the way things stand at the moment, we could be at war with China any day now, simply through one small miscalculation on either country’s part. Most people know this, but they push it to the farthest reaches of their mind, because to really consider all that portends for the future of the world is purely mind numbingly horrific and a thing no one really wishes to see happen under any set of circumstances.

America is currently witnessing the early stages of what comes next — a China that not only seeks regional powers just as so many great powers do, but also a China that is preparing to shape the 21st Century in its image using social credit scores and an intrusive artificial intelligence operating its massive surveillance machine, totally different from the way the U.S. shaped the 20th Century, yet similar in the manner our leaders strived for dominance and superiority on the global stage, as we fought to preserve freedom and liberty both at home and abroad. Except China will be fighting for the rise of its power and the spread of Marxist-Maoist Communism and tyranny. Continue reading

‘Modern Politigencia’

The inmates in the monkey house, Congress, the opposite of progress, live up to their elucidation. All they seem to do is monkey around, accomplish next to nothing, and cause problems for the republic. Their primary primate goal is self-aggrandizement and amusement. They’ve even taken to flinging poo just like their simian namesakes. Continue reading

Ominous NEW Migrant Gang Emerges in America’s Biggest City as Dozens of Members Are Arrested
Disillusioned gangsters have splintered from Tren du Aragua to form an ‘Anti-Tren’ alliance terrorizing the streets of New York City.

In a shocking revelation on Tuesday, authorities said a targeted effort to crack down on the Tren du Aragua criminal enterprise in the city actually yielded unexpected results.

A total of 27 people were indicted on sweeping charges including racketeering, sex trafficking, drug, and firearms charges – but just six are current members of the feared Venezuelan gang… (Continue to full article)

Phoenix Among Cities Involved in DEA’s Largest Fentanyl Bust in History
The U.S. Department of Justice says Phoenix was one of the cities involved in a nationwide operation that led to the Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) biggest drug bust in the agency’s history.

“This historic drug seizure, led by the DEA, is a significant blow against the Sinaloa Cartel that removes poison from our streets and protects American citizens from the scourge of fentanyl,” U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a news release. “This Department of Justice will continue working with our law enforcement partners to dismantle every cartel network operating illegally in the United States.”

In Phoenix, about $390,000 in cash was seized alongside 72 pounds of meth, nearly 29 pounds of fentanyl pills, 2.4 pounds of heroin and 11 pounds of cocaine… (Continue to full article)

California Woman Helped Hundreds of Illegal Migrants Get Green Cards with False Medical Records
A California woman has been convicted of aiding hundreds of illegal migrants in their efforts to obtain green cards by creating fraudulent medical records without authorization from a doctor, prosecutors said.

Chantelle Lavergne Woods of San Luis Obispo County pleaded guilty Monday to one count of presentation of false immigration document or application and one count of possession with intent to distribute phendimetrazine, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Central District of California announced.

The 54-year-old woman had been operating a clinic called “Medical Weight Loss and Immigration Services” that served as a front for her scheme beginning in February 2021, when prosecutors said she “knowingly misused the identities of three physicians to create hundreds of fraudulent documents pertaining to medical examinations of individuals seeking to register for a lawful permanent resident (LPR) card – commonly known as a ‘green card’ – or otherwise adjust their immigration status… (Continue to full article)

Trump Administration Ordered to Admit Thousands of Refugees
A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to allow about 12,000 additional refugees into the country, rejecting the White House’s argument that approved migrants can be turned away if they did not arrive in the U.S. by early February.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) argued a previous court order meant the government only had to accept about 160 refugees who would be en route to the U.S. by Feb. 3, but U.S. District Judge Jamal Whitehead rebuffed that interpretation.

Faith-based refugee aid groups filed a lawsuit in February after President Trump issued an executive order that indefinitely suspended the U.S. Refugee Assistance Program (USRAP), created by Congress in 1980 for people fleeing persecution, wars or natural disasters in their home countries… (Continue to full article)

Trump’s Supreme Court Win Reins in Lower Courts
Trump has faced numerous legal challenges as federal judges have issued injunctions against his policies, particularly on immigration. In response, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) has introduced the No Rogue Rulings Act, which seeks to limit federal judges from issuing nationwide injunctions.

This follows a similar proposal by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), which confines judicial rulings to the parties directly involved. The Supreme Court recently ruled to allow the Trump administration to continue deportations under the Alien Enemies Act. The ruling permits deporting Venezuelan migrants suspected of gang ties to El Salvador. This decision comes after U.S. District Judge James Boasberg previously halted the deportations.

Prior to the ruling, Grassley explained his reasoning behind the No Rogue Rulings Act. “If the Supreme Court won’t act to rein in the lower courts, Congress must… (Continue to full article)

If We Can’t Deport Illegals, Here’s How We Can Make It Impossible to Stay
There’s an old saying when a bar is about to close for the night that goes something like, “you don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here.” It pretty much sums up how Americans feel about people in our country illegally, even if our courts won’t let President Trump deport them.

It’s truly incredible. President Biden allowed millions of illegals to pour across the southern border en masse and the courts did nothing. Now, in order to kick them out, the same judicial system wants each and every one to get a hearing, a process that would likely require not decades, but centuries… (Continue to full article)

Trump Must Give Some Venezuelan Migrants 21 Days’ Notice Before Deportations, Judge Rules
A federal judge in Colorado directed President Donald Trump’s administration on Tuesday to give Venezuelan migrants detained in that state notice 21 days in advance before any deportations under a law historically used only in wartime, and to inform them of their right to challenge their removal.

In a written ruling maintaining a temporary block within Colorado on deportations under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney said the administration must tell the migrants in a language they understand that they have the right to consult a lawyer… (Continue to full article)

Gorsuch, Roberts Side With Left-Leaning Supreme Court Justices in Immigration Ruling
Gorsuch and Roberts on Tuesday sided with left-leaning justices in an immigration appeals case, a narrow ruling that could portend the court’s future thinking amid a flurry of legal cases centered on immigration.

The 5-4 ruling in Monsalvo Velazquez v. Bondi centered on the government’s interpretation of a 60-day “voluntary departure” deadline, which authorities can use to allow certain immigrants deemed to be of “good moral character” to depart the U.S. on their own terms within that timeframe.

The Supreme Court ruled, with the backing of Roberts and Gorsuch, that any voluntary departure deadlines for immigrants under the 60-day departure time frame that fall on a weekend or on a legal holiday in the U.S. should be extended to the next business day…. (Continue to full article)
