In the days leading up to the Senate’s impeachment trial, some people hoped that Chief Justice John Roberts, presiding over the trial, would use his position to send a strong message to the senators on what the Constitution requires of them. He had, in fact, already sent such a message, just weeks earlier, on what the Constitution requires of all Americans. Sometimes I regret doing anything after I get home from work, as often my mind gets stimulated and I find myself unable to sleep. Last night was one such night as I laid in bed most of the night with a whole slew of thoughts running through my mind.

It all began when I posted the first paragraph from Luther Martin’s Genuine Information #3 on Facebook, asking how many people would spend any amount of time reading things like that. However, the avalanche of thoughts began when I got home from work and read the following comment made by someone on my friends list: This sounds like he was against the electoral college in as much as one individual person equals one vote opposite that is contrary to the human heart. Mostly because I equal the smallest state as does each and every human.

I wish I could be more optimistic towards the future of America, and I suppose I might be, if I bought into the mirage of the manipulated “Great Economy” that I know must end one day soon … probably when the Repurchasing Market bubble bursts. But, when one looks at all the legislation that has been passed during just Trump’s administration that contravenes the Bill of Rights, I cannot be optimistic, since money means little to me without Liberty. Properly run government ensures both prosperity and Liberty to the people, and in large measure.

There is an overabundance of “citizens” who, I daresay, have never fought in the defense of anything or anybody, unless it served and benefited them first. Far too many of today’s youth have come to adulthood expecting everything to fall in their laps and handed them, with the attitude that the world begins and ends with them. And I think being drafted into some sort of public service or the military would serve to make such individuals better people in the end.

However, I have to agree with this author, that our lives belong to each of us to use as we see fit, so long as we do no harm to others in the process.

With that said, I find it highly unlikely that a large segment of this American society would actually rise to defend the nation, if She came under attack from a foreign enemy. But, you can be damned certain, They Will Be the First to Riot in the Streets for “Free Stuff” each and every time they think the effort will avail them to meet their ends and their agenda. A series of new gun control bills in Virginia cleared key votes on Thursday, including expanded background checks and “red flag” protective orders, among other measures.

Now Just How Are You ‘Gonna’ Change Things?

You are skiing in the back country when all of a sudden you hear an ominous cracking and then a rushing sound like a hurricane. You look up slope to the mountain above you and realize that half a mountain of snow is headed right at you at 80 to 100 miles per hour. In an instant of horror and panic, your life flashes in front of you. You have two choices, stand still and die, or run. But which way should you go? Do you move sideways to get out of the path, or do you ski down hill in the hopes of out running the avalanche. The statistics say that you have probably bought the farm. Only a snowmobile has any chance of moving fast enough to escape being overrun. However, if you are caught up in the avalanche, the best advice is to swim in it and make air pockets as the avalanche comes to a stop. In June I’ll turn 62, and over the course of those sixty-two years I’ve been to a lot of places and seen and done a lot of things; some that I’m not so proud of. However, I’m not here to write a tell all article about the life and times of Neal Ross, I’m here to write about the changes that have taken place in the country I love over the course of those six decades. I may be wrong, but I think change is coming about at a much faster rate now, almost exponentially, and many of these changes are quite troubling to me.

Normally I write my articles by stating a simple pretense, then building a foundation and then layering on facts which support that pretense. A Project Veritas video published Tuesday purportedly shows a Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) campaign staffer musing about a ban on private property ownership in the United States as an alternative to mass killings.

A man identified as Mason Baird, a Sanders field organizer in South Carolina, is seen telling a Project Veritas journalist that he believes a “militant labor movement,” working in tandem with a Sanders administration, should “strip power” away from capitalists.

“We would need a federal government and labor union movement that is working together to strip power away from capitalists and preferably directing violence toward property,” the man says. “At the end of the day, this kind of stuff will come out through practice, through the work and it’s hard for me to talk about it in the moment we live in, ’cause I think China today is not what Mao envisioned, right — it was through the practice of Chinese people doing the work to create the China today. Years ago, when we lived in West Virginia, I can recall hearing a conversation between two people, one of which was a socialist, though he would not have recognized that fact. One of his comments during the conversation was that he thought “everyone should make (earn) the same” amount of money. The other person tried to explain to him that “it doesn’t work that way.” I doubt if the erstwhile socialist grasped that, but it’s true. You can’t expect a doctor or a teacher to work for the same wages as a custodial engineer (janitor), yet that was what the socialist expected and it really bothered him that others made more money than he did.
