I could give a damn less about where a man has his origins, just as long as he exhibits a true fidelity and allegiance to the principles that built America. But a phenomenon we see so apparent throughout our society today is that it has been overrun by a massive host of anti-Americans in a way never before seen in America.

The entire premise underlying the cited reason for the 1965 Immigration Act could never work; it was preposterous and insane from the beginning, and every single thing traitors like Senator Ted Kennedy said wouldn’t happen have happened and come to pass.

America would have been a thousand times better off if we had left well enough alone and left these people who held antithetical ideas to ours right where they were, to make their lives better or not. We sure would have avoided a multitude of problems that have since emerged from this one act alone, and they could have hated us from afar, rather than coming to America and harassing us with charges of being imperialists and white supremacists who still want to oppress them.

Oppress them, My Ass! They arrived by the millions and have been appeased, pampered, coddled and catered to from the first day they hit our shores.

It’s way past time to place a total halt to all immigration and seal every border point of entry tighter than a young virgin’s chastity belt. America has entered some of the darkest and most dangerous times most of us have ever witnessed within our own lifetimes. I am in the autumn of my life, at almost 67 years of age, and I have seen this big, wide and wonderful country of ours from one mountain range to another and sea to shining sea. From my earliest years, I have born witness to a nation whose people were so much more free than they are today, where racism was actually becoming less of “a thing” and we lived in a period where our people really wanted to help one another, to live and let live and enjoy life as it came. I’ve been trying to spend more time with friends and family, myself, if just to keep away from the TV and all the trash we have to deal with on a daily basis. Some days it’s just too, too much and it sucks the life right out of you.

But Ol’ Sweet Mutt keeps me laughing everyday with some new antic of his. The other day we were way off in the woods, and I had to pee rather urgently. So I told Mutt to “wait”, and normally he will automatically come to a halt and wait for me to say “O.K.”. This day, for some reason, just as I started, Sweet Mutt started my way; I didn’t think much about it, because I thought he’d stop. But he ran up to take a look and ran his nose right up under the stream of pee. Oh My, how I laughed at him as I said, “Uh, huh … serves You right, Big Nosey”. I would never have been as conscious of racial differences growing up if so much hadn’t always been made of it all. I was taught at home to worry not about the color of anyone’s skin and simply take them according to how they treated me and whether or not they were trustworthy, honorable persons of integrity, in essence, judge them “by the content of their character”.

I haven’t been worried about this debt ceiling “crisis” shutting the government down. I remember the shutdown that went on for three weeks during the Clinton years, and we survived it just fine.

What everyone should find troubling is the spending that has grown so large it accounts for much more than the receipts the U.S. takes in each year. And if it grows too much larger, it will eventually make it near impossible to even service the interest on the debt.

Defaulting on the debt would be a mixed bag. We’d still have the largest world economy, but the International Monetary Fund would demand some restructuring on how we handle our debt and how much more, if any, we could accrue, not to mention that many nations would grow reluctant to trade with us further. Our country left the era of do no wrong and mean no harm a long time ago. Our system has separated from its moral Christian principles and traditional moorings, and it has morphed into a corrosive beast where it’s everyone for themselves in a gross, reprehensible style focused largely on self-interest first, party second and God and country last.

I possess a virulent anti-authoritarian strain dating back to my childhood, and I have always found the concept of respecting authority for authority’s sake as nonsensical, even asinine, probably due to my father’s warning to always question authority — this coming from an old, decorated combat veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Respect is something earned, not automatically deserved for any reason.
