In the early days of National Review, William F. Buckley Jr. liked to draw stark lines. One such line is right there in the November 1955 mission statement: “Conservatives in this country — at least those who have not made their peace with the New Deal, and there is serious question whether there are others — are non-licensed nonconformists,” Buckley wrote.
Buckley helped make support for free markets — what the same document called the “competitive price system” — a foundational element of the conservative movement. It’s not surprising that a movement so dedicated set its sights on the New Deal: the watershed moment of government involvement not just in the private economy but also in everyday life, by which the administration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt responded to the Great Depression. It might sound like something straight out of science fiction, but AI experts warn that machines might not stay submissive to humanity for long.
A new study has revealed that ChatGPT will provide detailed instructions to teenagers on dangerous activities, including getting drunk, concealing eating disorders, and even writing suicide letters to parents when asked. The research was conducted by the Center for Countering Digital Hate, which had researchers pose as vulnerable teens to test the AI chatbot’s responses.
The Wizard of Oz is being ruined, and (according this author) it’s fine. It’s fine because the movie is now falling out of cultural relevance, and our choices are to live in a world where no one under the age of 20 will have seen or probably even know what The Wizard of Oz is, or do something really stupid and gimmicky with it to try and get people interested in the original movie.
We’re all familiar with the story behind this article’s headline. It was the last day of the Constitutional Convention, Sept. 18, 1787, when a prominent Philadelphia socialite, Elizabeth Willing Powel, confronted Benjamin Franklin outside of Independence Hall and asked him, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy”?
“They say ‘separation between church and state,’ they told me. I said, alright, let’s forget about that for one time.”
Have you ever noticed how time sometimes seems to drag by at a snails pace, then before you know it, ten, even twenty, years have passed? So it is with my first glimpse into the realm of the dark side, as I’ve taken to calling it; my first introduction into the world of conspiracy theories. It sometimes seems as if it was just a short while ago that I first watched Aaron Russo’s documentary, From Freedom To Fascism. I still pull that dvd of that film out from time to time to watch it; if, for no other purpose, than to see just how far down the rabbit hole I’ve traveled.
With April 30, 2025, being the 50th anniversary of North Vietnam’s defeat of the United States in the Vietnam War, it is worth revisiting the role that the U.S. national-security establishment’s assassination of President Kennedy played in that war.
As the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) carries out widely-criticized responses to Hurricanes Helene and Milton, officials say the agency’s Disaster Recovery Fund is incapable of handling a third major storm.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced on August 28 that it will hand out an additional $380 million to localities through its Shelters and Services Program (SSP). This program is intended to offset some of the political ramifications associated with high levels of illegal immigration by providing funding to localities that are “providing critical support such as food, shelter, clothing, acute medical care, and transportation” to inadmissible aliens recently released from DHS custody — despite federal laws that require most border-crossers’ continued detention pending the completion of their immigration proceedings.
Washington, D.C. (September 6, 2024) – A new Center for Immigration Studies report examines the immigration legislation championed by Sen. Kamala Harris during her four years in the U.S. Senate. Her legislative record reveals an extreme agenda to cripple U.S. immigration law enforcement that would have gone beyond even the damage inflicted by the Biden-Harris administration. Though her bills did not pass, they may offer insight into what her presidential policies would look like.
Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch has given Joe Biden a terse warning over the president’s plans to shake up the structure of the Supreme Court.
TIM WALZ now targeted with scurrilous claims after Democrats relentlessly smear JD Vance with one fake news report after another, each designed to damage his reputation. Did those political bolsheviks really think their naked lies and absurd falsehoods would go unanswered?!?!
