Do we have the time, or is this the beginning of the end of life in America as we have known it? This is where you will find a range of Editorial postings and comments by a select group of writers, many of who have had long term relations with Kettle Moraine Publications – and EACH of whom provide us with THEIR Perspectives as this Nation ignores the warnings as we live in the end of days – for most Americans’ are Too Blind to See – and we once again convert back to one of our OLD and DEFINITIVE categories – POINT BLANK!

Br’er Rabbit: My Thoughts on History

Twenty years ago I would have laughed in your face if you had told me that I would spend the remainder of my life studying history. I hated history in school; the boring textbooks, the remembering of names and dates of certain events; it all seemed so useless to me at the time. The only history teacher I had who tried to make history fun was Jim Gross, my junior year U.S. History teacher; and I was too into drugs at the time to appreciate his efforts.

Merriam Webster’s online dictionary defines history as: a chronological record of significant events (such as those affecting a nation or institution) often including an explanation of their causes. Continue reading

Tick, tick, tick…: The Counter-Coup Has Begun

So, NOW what do you think?

I remember as if it were yesterday, telling President Trump’s National Security Adviser, retired three-star General Mike Flynn: “Get 20 DoJ polygraphers here now and have them do single-scope interviews through the whole bloody building!

I didn’t work for the good general, as my job as strategist to the president, had me working with Steven Bannon who headed the White House’s Strategic Initiatives Group, but I considered Mike a friend, a true battle buddy from the Trump campaign. More than that, I had been one of just a handful of members of the official presidential Transition Team’s NSC staff in the months before the Inauguration, and as such had come to respect and admire the former Defense Intelligence Agency director as a great patriot and fighter. Where Else Can It Lead But Civil War?

“Something is wanting, and something must be done, or we shall be involved in all the horror of failure and civil war without a prospect of its termination.” ~ Henry Knox, military officer in the Continental Army (1750 – 1806)

America is indeed a great country. From sea to shining sea, we live in unrivaled splendor and beauty, from seashore to majestic mountain ranges where eagles soar on the wind, to the fertile great plains of the mid-west where the buffalo roam and to the deserts of the southwest where the snakes and scorpions prowl and back to the sea again, very few places on earth can match the exceptional geography of America. The Unsustainable Trajectory of America’s Economy

I have never claimed to be an economics “expert” or anything remotely close, but my university years did make me well familiar with certain aspects of higher math as course requirements and quantitative methods of social science research, especially as applied to the demographics of any particular culture and society. So, through this prism and the perspective of largely a layman on the topic, I have looked at all the numbers I could find on this topic, and I attempted to condense them to a core of those most pertinent, in order to present a fairly comprehensive overview of where America’s economic future currently stands. The U.S. Economy Is Rigged

Always and again the magic of money presents us with problems. These problems change constantly. Time after time experience teaches us that there is no universally-valid system by means of which monetary problems may be solved. Every new situation demands new deliberations, new measures, new insights, new ideas. Each of these ideas must be informed by and subservient to the sole and single purpose of maintaining the soundness of the currency. ~ Hjalmar Schacht

While the public cannot identify exactly how the system is rigged, it is nonetheless correct: elites in business and government collude regularly to run the American economy to their own advantages and have increasingly done so for decades.

IT IS no secret that Americans have rebelled. On both the left and the right, people have made clear their disgust with business-as-usual. For the Republicans, the Tea Party rebellion began to alter the established party, and the election of Donald Trump rendered the change nearly complete. A comparable rebellion against established practice has pulled the Democratic Party far to the left. Polls show a common complaint: that the system is “rigged” in favor of a self-serving business and government elite. Continue reading

Your Doctor and Your Guns

What do you do when your doctor asks if you own a gun?

You are at the pediatrician’s office for a routine well child visit. Maybe you just moved to a new town. The nurse hands you the standard paperwork with the questionnaire pertaining to your child’s health. You start filling out the form and right there . . . question number 14 . . . “Do you have a gun in the home?” It’s right after the question about swimming pools and right before the one about household cleaner storage. What do you answer? Continue reading

The Weekend Gag 106

If it’s FREE – it must be fo’ ME! ~ Robert Burns, circa 1990

The American passengers were finally picked up from the Cruise ship Diamond Princess.  I can now sit back and relax a bit. Man – it has been a stressful day… I Shitzu NOT!

I have not slept since Monday morning. It is now after 8:00 p.m. and while reviewing some images for a project, I located this old picture of a wonderful dog that so many of us know, but then… I looked more closely at the image of the man near the curtain and was shocked to realize that it was Bernie – HE was the the damned Wizard!

The Bloomberg Saga

New Hampshire Colonials Must Be Vomiting In Their Graves

“People are unhappy with the direction of this country – we saw that with the rise of the tea party, we saw that when we saw thousands of people at the state house in Concord, New Hampshire, protesting the government over more taxes and spending.” ~ Corey Lewandowski

“Live Free or Die?” Really? Sadly, one of the oldest of the 50 states, has turned from red to blue. Yes, today, it has a Republican Governor, but its governing policies have shifted left into socialist territory as far back as the 1960’s when the Democrat Party made a resurgence in the state. Since 1992, New Hampshire has supported the Democrat candidate running for president with Clinton in 1992, John Kerry in 2004 and Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012. Continue reading

Wickard v. Filburn: The Supreme Court Case That Gave the Federal Government Nearly Unlimited Power

The Constitution creates a government of enumerated powers, which means the federal government is only authorized to do things that are specifically listed in the Constitution.

Every presidential election in the United States follows a clear formula. First, many people with absolutely no chance of winning the presidency declare their candidacies. Those who get washed out of the race late in the game see their fortunes rise, which was their goal from the first. Second, candidates with even a chance at winning their party’s nomination drift to the outer fringe of their party’s ideology. For Democrats this year, that means appealing to the most progressive of the progressive wing of their party. Finally, when the race is set with two candidates, each of them will converge in the middle, eschewing the ideological members of their own parties. Continue reading

Michael Bloomberg: the Man Who Would Be Dictator

There are many would be dictators among our political elites in this country. Oh, most of them would never dare admit to such tendencies. They are still trying to convince us all that they are really our benefactors. Happily, most of us are beginning to learn that it just ain’t so. When they commence telling us how concerned they are for us and our children, then we better bar the door and reach for the shotgun. Their true concern is for their own safety while they try to force agendas down our throats they realize most of us are not all that happy with.

The problem with these dictatorial elites is that most of them are socialists and they mean to rule–with or without our consent. Socialism is never about helping people and always about controlling them. Continue reading

For Millions of Us, Watching America Die Is Gut Wrenching

Suicide, 1881 (oil on canvas) by Manet, Edouard (1832-83)

“‘Tis a cruel and terrible thing to witness the death of an old friend, body riddled with disease, emaciated, disfigured and racked with convulsions, his youthful energy, pleasing smile and happy disposition a far distant memory. One wishes for a merciful death and yet one holds out hope that somehow your old friend will be miraculously healed and restored to good health, even though you know in your heart that certain death has him firmly in its grip.” ~ Ron Ewart

We’re All in This Together: A Case for Not Giving Up on the American Dream

“We must, indeed, all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.” ~ Benjamin Franklin

Listen: we don’t have to agree about everything.

We don’t even have to agree about most things.

We don’t have to love each other. We don’t even have to like each other. And we certainly don’t need to think alike or dress alike or worship alike or vote alike or love alike. But if this experiment in freedom is to succeed—and there are some days the outlook is decidedly grim—then we’ve got to find some way of relating to one another that is not toxic or partisan or hateful or so self-righteous that we’re doomed to failure before we even start.

America has been a warring nation—a military empire intent on occupation and conquest—for so long that perhaps we, the citizens of this warring nation, have forgotten what it means to live in peace, with the world and one another. Continue reading

Liberty: The Most Divine Thing

It’s extremely hard today to keep a positive mindset, when we are constantly bombarded by so much “Bad News,”from more “refugee” ills and immigration subterfuge to the fake, evil and manufactured wrongdoing of President Trump in this impeachment hoax perpetrated by the Democrats — thank God he was rightfully acquitted on February 5th. I have my own axe to grind against Trump on several issues BUT, He Hasn’t Done One Thing That Warrants His Impeachment. My God, I’ve never encountered so many ignorant people in my life, as in any time or moment I make the slightest endeavor to address any of the aforementioned topics with some Leftists.

It’s a relief, and the only time I get any peace of mind, to simply ignore the “News” Cycle at times and let the world proceed without me for a few hours, or even days. I take a good bit of pleasure from viewing various artworks I am offered daily through Saatchi Artworks and from my musical library that I find so soothing in the evenings after a long day, as I sit with Big Ol’ Sweet Mutt in my lap, rubbing his ears and tickling under his chin. Will the REAL Southerners Please Stand Up!

“If I ever disown, repudiate or apologize for the Cause for which Lee fought and Jackson died, let the lightnings of Heaven rend me, and the scorn of all good men and true women be my portion. Sun, Moon, Stars, all fall on me when I cease to love the Confederacy. ‘Tis the cause – not the fate of the Cause, that is glorious!” ~ Maj. R.E. Wilson, CSA

That’s my question. Where are the REAL Southerners and would y’all please stand up. To those of you who have been sending messages asking if I’m OK, or expressing concern at my silence on the page, or what I think about recent events of these past weeks, let me assure y’all that I have received them all.

While I appreciate the concern, I will confess, I find myself somewhat confused… Continue reading

The Constitution Was a Coup d’État

We owe Patrick Newman a great debt for his enterprise and editorial skill in bringing to publication the fifth volume, hitherto thought lost, of Murray Rothbard’s Conceived in Liberty. The details of his rescue of the lost manuscript are indeed dramatic, but rather than recount them here, I should like to concentrate on a theme central to the new book. ~ Ed.

A Comic-Book? Well – it just might be…

It is well known that Rothbard took the American Revolution to be mainly libertarian in its inspiration. The libertarian impulses of the Revolution were betrayed by a centralizing coup d’état. As Rothbard puts it:

Basically, urban merchants and artisans, as well as many slaveholding planters, united in support of a strong nation-state that would use the power of coercion to grant them privileges and subsidies. The subsidies would come at the expense of the average subsistence yeoman farmer who might be expected to oppose such a new nationalism. But against them, to support a new constitution, were the commercial farmers aided by the southern plantation-farmers who also wanted power and regulation for their own benefit. Given the urban support, the split among the farmers, and the support from wealthy educated elites, it is not surprising that the nationalist forces were able to execute their truly amazing political coup d’état which illegally liquidated the Articles of Confederation and replaced it with the Constitution. In short, they were able to destroy the original individualist and decentralized program of the American Revolution. (p. 128)

The theme I should like to concentrate on is this: what happens to the way we understand the Constitution if Rothbard is right that it was a centralizing document? Continue reading
