It’s a common refrain: We have bubble-wrapped the world. Americans in particular are obsessed with “safety.” The simplest way to get any law passed in America, be it a zoning law or a sweeping reform of the intelligence community, is to invoke a simple sentence: “A kid might get hurt.”

Almost no one is opposed to reasonable efforts at making the world a safer place. But the operating word here is “reasonable.” Banning lawn darts, for example, rather than just telling people that they can be dangerous when used by unsupervised children, is a perfect example of a craving for safety gone too far. Moderna Inc. MRNA said late Thursday that it will receive up to $483 million from the U.S. government to accelerate development of a COVID-19 vaccine. Shares in Moderna rose 2% in the extended session. The Facts: Professor Didier Raoult has published his early results for Hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for moderate to severe COVID-19 patients. 973 patients out of 1063, according to him, have shown “a good clinical outcome.”

I talked with a man today, an 80+ year-old man. I asked him if there was anything I can get him while this Coronavirus scare was gripping America.

Isolation is the key to social or physical distancing aimed at curbing the transmission of COVID-19. But isolation of both the ill and symptomatic along with the well also intensifies problems with mental health, like depression. It’s impacting one key aspect of those in recovery from addictions, not to mention the deaths and diseases of despair.

Healthy social interactions range from the mundane of encountering smiling faces in our daily comings and goings to individuals who partner with a group or a counselor to overcome addictions through accountabilities. Just over two months ago, I spoke with an infectious disease doctor who not only believed that millions of Americans had already been exposed to COVID-19, but that the lockdowns were counterproductive and we needed to let herd Immunity take hold in our nation.

Hydroxychloroquine – Trump’s maligned hope for a cure?As I have said many times, the Democrats’ antipathy towards President Donald Trump, simply said, has no limits. For all intents and purposes, Donald Trump could find a cure for cancer tomorrow, and they [Democrats] would still find a way to chastise him for it.

I personally think the ongoing saga with this hydroxychloroquine drug as used in the cure of the Coronavirus / COVID-19, tops it all. The thought that anyone could get on Trump’s case merely for suggesting the use of a drug to save the life of someone dying from the virus, is, as far as I am concerned, as low as you can go – the lowest I have ever seen.
