Benson: Preserving “our democracy

Death of Democracy by gibraltarium

How many times in the past couple years have you heard from some socialist Democrat about the crying need to preserve “our democracy” from all those Americans who have the temerity to disagree with their vision for the future? More times than you can count, I’m willing to bet. It’s like, for them, “democracy” is some sort of secular deity that no one would dare to disagree with. It seems to ruin their whole day when some of us do.

Most who have had the misfortune to have had to attend a public school were never taught the difference between a republic and a democracy. I can’t recall ever hearing the two differentiated, though maybe I did and have just forgotten. School was long, long ago for me. Continue reading

Break the Cycle: In 2024, Say NO to the Government’s Cruelty, Brutality and Abuse

“The greater the power, the more dangerous the abuse.” ~ Edmund Burke

Folks, it’s time to break the cycle of abuses – cruel, brutal, immoral, unconstitutional and unacceptable – that have been heaped upon us by the government for way too long.

Here’s just a small sampling of what we suffered through in 2023.

The government failed to protect our lives, liberty and happiness. The predators of the police state wreaked havoc on our freedoms, our communities, and our lives. The government didn’t listen to the citizenry, refused to abide by the Constitution, and treated the citizenry as a source of funding and little else. Police officers shot unarmed citizens and their household pets. Government agents – including local police – were armed to the teeth and encouraged to act like soldiers on a battlefield. Bloated government agencies were allowed to fleece taxpayers. Government technicians spied on our emails and phone calls. And government contractors made a killing by waging endless wars abroad.

The president became more imperial. Although the Constitution invests the President with very specific, limited powers, in recent years, American presidents have claimed the power to completely and almost unilaterally alter the landscape of this country for good or for ill. The powers amassed by each successive president through the negligence of Congress and the courts – powers which add up to a toolbox of terror for an imperial ruler – empower whoever occupies the Oval Office to act as a dictator, above the law and beyond any real accountability. The presidency itself has become an imperial one with permanent powers. Continue reading

The INVASION of the united States CONTINUES

Mass invasion of a country is an act of war. A government failing to protect a country is an act of treason.

Joe Biden’s policies have been an unmitigated disaster. Even the lefties know that, but they gaslight us and pretend Joe is another Franklin D. Roosevelt.

One thing they can’t gaslight us about is the open border on the south. So far, 8,000,000 people have poured in during Biden’s watch. Even Marxist mayors in Chicago and New York are starting to complain. The ’sanctuary cites’ are now saturated cities. They don’t know what to do about it and they’re starting to blame the Biden Administration. Continue reading

Biden Is Breaking the Border on Purpose — He Wants Mass Amnesty

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas — among others — has accused former President Donald Trump of “gutting” the immigration system, but such claims are little more than projection.

Annual southwest border apprehensions exceeded 405,500 just once during the last presidency, in fiscal year 2019, when they hit 860,000. Trump responded with the successful “Remain in Mexico” program, driving illegal migration down again. Continue reading

Thousands Join Christmas Eve Migrant Caravan – The Biggest In More Than A Year

… as it treks through Mexico and towards the U.S. border just days before Blinken arrives in the capital to hammer out new agreement to stem surge.

The biggest migrant caravan for 18 months set off for the US from Mexico on Christmas Eve as border crossing records continue to tumble.

Around 10,000 people led by Mexican activist Luis Rey Garcia Villagran left the southern Mexican border town of Tapachula for the long march north as more of those already at the US border finished their journey this evening.

Biden has hauled Secretary of State Anthony Blinken away from the crisis in the Middle East for a summit with Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador on Wednesday, after US authorities recorded more than 242,000 migrants crossing in November alone. (Continue to full article)

EFFENGEEZER SCROOGE, A CHRISTMAS CAROL 2023

I’ve had several people suggest a drawing of Joe Biden as the ‘Grinch,’ but after careful consideration I decided it would be more fun to draw him as ‘Scrooge.’

I always like watching all the old ‘Scrooge’ movies on TV at this time of year. I prefer the black and white ones. I picture London being black and white in 1843, when Charles Dickens penned the tale – and in fact, Benjamin Franklin described old London as being a smokey, dark place in the mid 1700s. One of the best film versions is the 1935 one starring Seymour Hicks. When he contritely visits his nephew and his nephew’s new wife at the end, he takes a moment to look at their Christmas tree. He sheds a tear because it’s so beautiful.

Unfortunately Biden would never have the Scrooge conversion. He would insult any spirit trying to help him.

How ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ Symbolizes the Triumph of Common Sense

December 9th marked the anniversary of the Christmas TV special which basically birthed all others: “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

Most Americans know the plot well. The despondent Charlie Brown who just can’t work up his Christmas cheer amidst crass commercialism. The confident and obnoxious Lucy, who finds the allegedly perfect solution to Charlie Brown’s gloom. The ill-fated Christmas pageant, which confirms Charlie Brown’s status as a loser. And finally, the rebirth of Christmas cheer that comes through Linus’ recitation of the original Christmas story.

But while the basic story is a charming tale with which many of us can empathize, I find the backstory of “A Charlie Brown Christmas” almost more so. Continue reading

Ross: A Christmas Story

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” ~ John 3:16 KJV

One cannot help but notice that Christmas is once again upon us; from the decorations outside people’s homes, to the frantic sales in the stores to boost year end sales. Yet, has Christmas become so commercialized that we have forgotten what we are celebrating? Putting aside the fact that Christ was probably born in April, not December, we are celebrating the birth of the most important human being who ever lived. I have always felt that Christmas was becoming too commercialized, but this year that sentiment is made more poignant by the fact that I have undergone a spiritual awakening, of sorts, over the past 12 months. Christmas, to me, is not about the decorating, the gift giving, or the big family meal; it is about remembering, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.Continue reading

This School Banned Cellphones 4 Years Ago

Here’s how it’s going — and why others are now following suit.

In 2019, San Mateo High School, just south of San Francisco, became the largest school in the United States to become a cellphone-free environment. Now, nearly five years into what began as an experiment, the school considers the change an ongoing success.

“Students are actually talking to one another,” shares Yvonne Shiu, who has been San Mateo’s principal for 17 years. “We’ve had other people on our campus notice, like, ‘Oh my gosh, you can actually see students’ faces and eyes as they’re walking in the hallways and not looking down at their phones.’Continue reading

It’s Not Their Mindset That’s Holding Children Back At School

Children’s ‘growth mindset’, characters and attitudes to learning have little impact on how well they do at school, according to a new study.

Instead, researchers point to external factors such as school funding, pre-school placements and opportunities outside school as much more important in bringing about meaningful change. Continue reading

Smith: Biden’s Lawless Border Policy IS Treason Against America

Everybody can see what Joe Biden is doing on the border is outrageous and illegal, and yet, no one is stopping him for a lack of supposed “authority” or just a lack of will and sheer damned laziness. Some are fine with his treason, while others are waiting for a “peaceful transfer of power” through the 2024 election, which I suspect will be anything but “peaceful”.

You and I shouldn’t have to be writing numerous warnings each week on the border crisis, but we do, because a significant portion of our current class of citizens seems to welcome the conquest and their submission to foreigners with little in common with them; the rest keep telling themselves, “It’s okay to wait a little while longer to see if conservatives will win the 2024 election.” Continue reading

Benson: No Jesus – No Salvation

At this time of year we think about celebrating Christmas, which to many folks is anything but spiritual. it’s a time to eat, get drunk, and insult the relatives you haven’t seen in a year. I realize lots of folks don’t like all this “religious” stuff so I expect my readership for this article and others like it will be down. That’s okay. I have to say what I say and I’m not out to win a popularity contest. Spiritual things are important, even if many don’t want to admit that.

I had a friend in the East who passed away at this time of year a few years ago. He was devoted to the cause of Southern heritage and truth in history, yet to the best of my knowledge, he passed from this life with no knowledge of how important the Lord Jesus Christ was and is to the human race. He admitted theology was his weak point but that was as far as he would go. Continue reading
