Judging from opinion polls, the American public has increasingly become largely disenchanted with the bizarre behavior of President Donald J Trump and the clownish entourage that surrounds and encourages him.
Last week featured a meeting between Trump and the foreign minister of Denmark as well as his counterpart from Greenland’s legislative assembly. The meeting did not resolve the issue of Trump’s “unacceptable” demand that the United States must have ownership of Greenland, “buying it” if necessary, to maintain its national security against possible invasion coming from Russian and Chinese ships that, per Trump incorrectly, are already infesting Arctic waters to the north.
To support his position, Trump has now announced that he is considering punishing with tariffs all countries that do not agree with his position on Greenland, which would be something akin to Washington committing international suicide…. (Continue to full article)

The president has shocked the military alliance by warning that opponents of an American takeover of the Danish territory will be hit with punitive tariffs from February 1.
In a bombshell post on his social media site, Mr Trump said levies will start at 10 per cent – and potentially rise to 25 per cent if they have not capitulated by June.

Woke Oregon City Council Sparks Backlash After Nominating Convicted Murderer to Police Oversight Board
After weeks of backlash, an Oregon city council finally voted to remove a convicted murderer from their police advisory board.
The Salem City Council voted 6-2 during a special meeting held on January 7 to revoke Kyle Hedquist’s appointment to the Community Police Review Board and the Civil Service Commission.
The nomination sparked outrage in the town, as the board holds a key role in reviewing police conduct complaints and making policy recommendations to the enforcement.
Hedquist, 47, was jailed for life without parole for murdering Nikki Thrasher in 1994, but was released in 2022.
