Is It Dark In There?

“When our government makes liberty a crime
you are governed by criminals.” ~ Author Unknown

Let’s say for a moment you knew someone who got lucky, and I mean really, really lucky, and this person won a huge jackpot in the lottery – the kind where, after taxes they walked away with 700-800 million. Let’s say this person decided they’d had enough of society, of all the rules and regulations governing what they can and cannot do. Let’s say this person decided to get away from it all and bought a huge tract of land; far away from the nearest city or town.

Let’s say this person built themselves a completely self-sufficient home on this property; complete with solar panels, a well, a rainwater collection and water purification system. Let’s say that this person began raising their own crops and livestock to feed them and their family. Let’s say this person dug a pond and stocked it with all manner of fish so that he could fish to his heart’s content. Let’s say this person decided not to have any contact at all with the outside world, including the home schooling of his children.

Let’s say this person was 100% self-sufficient; needing nothing that society, or government has to offer. How long do you think it would be before government came after them?

How long do you think it would be before they came after him for not paying taxes upon his property? How long do you think it would be before some code inspector would show up wanting to inspect his property to see if it met with code? How long do you think it would be before some federal agency had him in their sights for a multitude of infractions of federal law?

In the America we live in it is impossible to be free of government; except in death. If you try they will come after you – eventually.

There is not a person alive today in America who has known true freedom – not a single one. If you exist, their rules apply to you – and that is not freedom when those rules restrict your ability to live your life according to your own conscience.

People in America today not only don’t know true freedom, they denounce those who try to obtain the mere semblance of it. Let’s say a group, or community decides to live off the grid; cut off from all contact with the outside world. What’s the first word that comes to mind when you hear of people doing that? I’ll tell you before you have time to think about it –a cult; you think they are some kind of a cult and pose a threat to society.

Sometimes they are cults; I’m not going to deny that. But sometimes they are just people who have grown tired of all the liberty restricting rules society imposes upon them, so they seek to establish a community that is free from those rules; a society where they can be free.

What is so wrong with that? Have Americans become so indoctrinated to accept an overbearing authority being exercised over them that they fear and despise anyone who seeks to free themselves from that authority? If so, then I hate to say it, but I don’t want any part of being an American – especially when true liberty causes you to quake in fear that your precious beliefs and sensibilities might be threatened by ideas that do not conform to the mainstream train of thought.

Many of our Founders, and not the ones who installed this horrendous government over us, but the ones who fought for America’s independence, were farmers. Jefferson grew crops, as did Washington. John Adams had a farm known as Peacefield. Do you think they had building and code inspectors running around checking to ensure that their homes met with city ordinances? Do you think they paid property taxes; which went up as they made improvements to their homes? Do you think they had to obtain permits to carry guns, or hunt and fish their lands?

Gitcher head out your azz…

They knew what true freedom was – they lived it every day of their lives; and they were willing to die defending it. Americans today would rather die defending servitude than they would to live a week with absolute freedom. You see, absolute freedom also means absolute responsibility for your lives and every decision you make regarding your lives – and that scares the hell out of most people.

Any time a society attempts to impose its views upon others; whether by overall rules enacted by a majority, or through a system of government that has the support of a majority, you have tyranny. If 3 people came into your home and began telling you what you could and could not do, and demanding that you subsidize them or else face serious consequences, you probably wouldn’t like it that much.

Well how do you think those of us who understand what it truly means to be free when society, or government, imposes all these rules upon us which restrict our liberty? Do you think we like it? Yet when we speak out against society, against government, and against you for supporting government, we are called treasonous, or dangers to society.

How in God’s name can anyone who seeks liberty be a threat to a system of government that was designed to secure the blessing of Liberty to all men, unless that government has become tyrannical and despotic? And if you support that system of government, and condemn those who seek some semblance of freedom, what does that say about you and your patriotism; for in my book patriotism is adherence to the principles our forefathers fought for in the war for American independence – and the ones fought for by the Confederate States of America if I might add. They too sought to free themselves from an oppressive government; and that government called them rebels and sent an army in to subjugate them.

America was founded upon the principle of liberty for all, yet very few people today know what liberty is; let alone have the courage to rise up and retake it from those who have stolen it from them.

Our schools, whose curriculums are established by government bureaucrats, do not teach us what liberty is – lest we develop a craving for it and attempt to regain it. Instead we are taught that we need government, that we should submit to authority without question, that we should obediently pay our taxes and vote in the elections, and that anything less is unpatriotic. The news media reinforces that indoctrination by reporting on those who refuse to obey the law; painting those who enforce tyranny upon the people as heroes – and the average American sucks that stuff up; full of American pride and patriotism; while true patriots become the targets of law enforcement and overall public scorn.

I tell you, it’s a mad, Mad, MAD world we live in, and I’m glad I’m nearing my end in it; for I don’t want to live long enough to see what you people are allowing to happen. I don’t want to live in a country where I have to obtain permission to exist – to be free. It’s bad enough now, and if you keep submitting to the laws your government keeps passing, it is only going to get worse – and I want no part of it.

In closing, I’d like to leave you with a few words from Thomas Paine, as they reflect my overall sentiments regarding the American people, “When I contemplate the natural dignity of man, when I feel (for Nature has not been kind enough to me to blunt my feelings) for the honour and happiness of its character, I become irritated at the attempt to govern mankind by force and fraud, as if they were all knaves and fools, and can scarcely avoid disgust at those who are thus imposed upon.

If you submit to government; be it run by either Republicans or Democrats; that applies to you. If you choose to ignore the actions of your government; thinking that what government is doing does not affect you; that applies to you. The only way that does not apply to you is if you recognize government for what it is and no longer participate in the fraud of electing a new crop of slave masters every couple of years.

When I see that happening in greater numbers I’ll know that people have finally pulled their heads out of their asses and woken up. Until then, they are still in the dark and can’t see that they are slaves.
