Corrupt Elections and the Failure of Western Democracies

Time is short and the danger is real. It is time to petition those who call themselves our representatives to actually represent us and pass SAVE…

An election was held. People were involved. Winners were selected. Results were announced. End of story. No matter if the results actually reflected the will of the voters. The proper forms were followed, the proper steps taken, the results certified by the proper authorities. No matter if the outcome was determined by votes submitted by people who were not legitimately entitled to vote, or worse, were introduced into the system by organizations dumping manufactured ballots into the stream. Only the fact that the results were obtained by an election matter. Not the legitimacy of the election, or the validity of the results – only the process itself.

Fair elections are essential to a free society. The enemies of freedom are smart, clever, devious, and dedicated

Is this where we find ourselves today? Not just in America, but throughout the Western world?

Elections have been the keystone in the arch of Western democracies for hundreds of years, now. Remove them, or and the arch collapses. Even just weaken them, build them of inferior material, and the arch will eventually fail. Believe that the stone is solid and secure when it is fractured and of inferior material, and the arch will still fail. Weaken the safeguards that ensure fair and honest elections, and the arch that supports the democracies of the West will fail.

Fair elections are essential to a free society. The enemies of freedom are smart, clever, devious, and dedicated. They should not be underestimated in their ability to mislead, misdirect, deceive, and manipulate, as well as to apply direct power when it is available to them. Socialists promise a fair and equitable society free from want where all share in the bounty of the nation. Islamists promise divine justice and the equality of all men, but not women. Communists promise that there will be no government because people will just automatically do what is right and if they don’t, then the power that comes from the mouth of a gun will instruct them.

Many today hold the idea that a strong government is necessary to ensure freedom by enforcing proper behavior. This is the same philosophy that gave us “It was necessary to destroy the village in order to save it.”. What is freedom, though, but the ability to conduct one’s own affairs with one’s own property, without interference so long as our acts do not infringe on the corresponding freedoms of others. In other words, freedom is the right to be left alone.

The paradox here is that power is often required to oppose those who would seek to claim our property or labor for their own. That power comes from cooperative action, either in defense or in conquest. Many attempts have been made throughout history to devise ways to collect and use power.

Our concepts of Democracy and systems of elections are the most recent approach to collection and distribution of power in support of the individual right to be left alone. Corrupt elections, and the institutions that protect individual rights can be corrupted to support tyranny rather than freedom.

It is clear to those of us who have studied these matters for years that our electoral systems across the Western world have been corrupted to a significant degree. Many to the point where the will of the people is no longer the deciding element in the results. Ideological factions, special interests, organizations seeking the power to compel, and many others have acted to weaken to the point of failure the processes that ensure honest elections.

Requiring a voter to provide identification showing they are qualified voters has been proposed as a method to ensure honest elections. Such proposals have recently encountered strong opposition. One US Senator has been promoting the false claim that requiring identification would disqualify women voters who took their husband’s name in marriage. Others have said that the process of acquiring suitable identification is too expensive, onerous, or complex for many citizens who are otherwise qualified voters.

Yet these same people have no objection to the “Real ID” program that requires a photograph and proof of lawful presence in the US as indicated by a birth certificate, US passport, or other official documentation. Married women, poor people, persons of color and others with sufficient interest or need have no difficulty getting such an ID. A RealID card or equivalent proof is now required to travel by air. Is being able to board an aircraft more important than being able to choose those who would direct the affairs of a nation?

At least one US Senator has gone on record as stating that there are no non-citizens who have voted in our elections

At least one US Senator has gone on record as stating that there are no non-citizens who have voted in our elections. They are either ignorant or lying as numerous investigations have proven incontrovertibly that non-citizens have voted in large numbers in recent elections, including elections for federal offices. Massive numbers were found in Maine, as but one example, but significant instances have been observed in every state.

Our officials, most of whom have self-interest in not having our election systems questioned, assure us that all is well – that our elections are safe, secure, and honest, and anyone who says otherwise is just an “election denier” seeking to undermine public confidence in our democratic process. Don’t trust your lying eyes that see what happened overnight in 2020, or more recently in Los Angeles. Don’t question the results in many state primaries, or going abroad to Hungary and the UK and France and Germany, or Brazil. There is no need for good audits of elections as no-one would ever try to change the outcome of an election in their favor, so there is no need to look.

Even if we prove that the elections are dishonest and result in choices that support special interests or particular parties, or ideologies, or even those who just want more power, once an election is held, there'[s nothing you can do about it. No judge will challenge the validity of a major election. There are no remedies to correct an illegitimate outcome except another election years later. Gone are the good old days when corrupt politicians could be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail. Woe betide any now who would question the validity of an election. The foxes have secured the henhouses.

Woe betide any now who would question the validity of an election. The foxes have secured the henhouses

Our only hope for the future is to correct the problems at the source by restoring the mechanisms that have been proven to ensure honest elections. Yes, some of those may be less convenient or might exclude a few who could legitimately vote, but do we want to balance the real danger of a corrupt election against the possibility of small inconvenience to a few?

The recent primaries have served as a testbed and opportunity to try the effectiveness of many methods that have been developed to subvert our elections. Many have shown great effectiveness, as well as the ability to operate in plain sight. The impotence of our mechanisms to ensure after the fact that an election was secure and honest has been proven beyond doubt. The stage has been set and the forces are in place for the elections to come in November. If our enemies can operate with the same impunity they have recently demonstrated, they will be able to establish enough control to neuter any further progress of restoring a government of the people.

Our best immediate hope of a peaceful solution is passage of the SAVE act by our congress. While imperfect, and lacking in key provisions, it contains provisions that would seriously disrupt many of the more effective mechanisms of corruption. If passed so as to be effective in time for the November elections, it would buy time to restore our Republic to the land of the free that it has been for so long, but is now in danger.

The alternatives to the SAVE act are few, and most are far less pleasant, ranging from declaration of martial law at election time to violent street protests to outright civil war as those who want power clash with those who want to preserve freedom. Time is short and the danger is real. It is time to petition those who call themselves our representatives to actually represent us and pass SAVE.
