UnitedHealthcare Agrees to Pay $2.5 Million in Settlement: See if You Qualify!

The continuing saga of United Hell-Care… ~ Editor

UnitedHealthcare has agreed to pay $2.5 million to resolve a class action lawsuit that alleged the company violated a federal law that prevents consumers from receiving robocalls without providing prior consent.

The lawsuit claims that UnitedHealthcare violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which restricts the use of automatic telephone dialing systems and artificial or prerecorded voice messages in telemarketing calls. In 2012, the Federal Communications Commission revised the rules to also require telemarketers to obtain prior written consent from consumers before robocalling them, among other revisions.

While UnitedHealthcare has agreed to the settlement, the company does not admit to any wrongdoing, maintains its compliance with the law, and continues to deny the allegations against it, the settlement stated.

Here is everything you need to know about the settlement class and how to receive payment.

Who Is Eligible to Receive UnitedHealthcare Settlement Money?

If you live in the United States and received one or more prerecorded, non-emergency phone calls between Jan. 9, 2015 and Jan. 9, 2019, from the Medicare and retirement non-licensed retention team, the community and state national retention team or the Medicare and retirement collections team, and you were not a UnitedHealthcare member or a third party authorized to receive calls on a member’s behalf at the time of the call, you may be eligible to receive a payout, according to the settlement. The settlement class is estimated to contain over 12,000 members.

How Much Will the United Health Payments Be?

The class council estimates that payments could be between $350 and $1,000, according to the settlement, with the final amount being more or less depending on the number of claims that are filed.

You must complete a claim form in order to receive payment.

How to File a Claim for UnitedHealthcare Settlement

Members of the settlement class will receive a notice by mail or email informing them of how to claim a payment. Per USA TODAY , claims can be made via an electronic form or through mail and must be submitted by April 15.

On June 20, 2025, a court will determine whether to grant final approval for the settlement.
