U.S. immigration authorities have begun flying Mexican deportees hundreds of miles deep into Mexico to discourage their quick illegal return.

Late last week the first planeload of illegals being deported back into Mexico were flown to the city of Guadalajara, a central Mexican city located 700 miles from the Texas border, the Associated Press reported.

A shelter in Guadalajara told the media that it was alerted that there would be many more to come in the next few weeks as the Trump administration continues to ramp up deportations and improve U.S. border security.

The Trump administration also warned that some Mexican deportees may be sent into Guatemalan or even deeper into Central America.

The warning is another tactic aimed at slashing the number of illegals attempting to enter the U.S.A.

So far, the Trump administration’s tactics are working because the number of Central American “caravans” have cratered and hundreds of thousands fewer illegals from that region are now trying to get into the U.S. illegally.

Now U.S. authorities are turning to the task of cutting the number of Mexicans entering America illegally.

Per the AP:

In another sign of the new focus on Mexicans, Acting Deputy U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Ken Cuccinelli said an agreement that lets U.S. immigration officials send asylum seekers to Guatemala to request refuge there instead could also apply to Mexicans and other nationalities.

“As we fully implement the agreement, all populations are being considered, including Mexican nationals,” Cuccinelli said on Twitter.

Also showing signs of renewed cooperation, Guatemalan officials posted statements of agreement and assistance with the endeavor.

Officials say that deporting Mexicans deep into Mexico and even into South America helps cut the recidivism rate because Mexicans don’t want to be sent a thousand miles or more deeper to the south and would rather just stay where they are in Mexico than chance being stranded far from home.

Thursday’s first flight from the U.S. to Guadalajara repatriated about 150 Mexicans back to their country.
