Ross: Take Off Your Blinders

Jesus what happened to you America?

I had planned on getting back to work on a rather lengthy essay I began nearly a month ago, but sometimes something happens that throws a monkey wrench into the best laid plans. The other day, right after posting my last essay in fact, I read a post on Facebook that became the inspiration for this. The post was about a young woman with terminal cancer who had written a letter telling people to not let the little things bother them; that life was too short, too precious, and could end at any time for unexpected reasons.

This wasn’t the first time I’d seen or heard that message but there was something about this time that planted the seed that sprouted into what you are about to read.

Most people, if they are being honest, will tell you that they fear their own death; albeit some fear it for different reasons than others. Yet death is an inevitability we cannot escape, and becomes so the moment we take our first breath of life outside the womb. The truth of the matter is, there isn’t a thing any of us can to to prevent our passing when our appointed time comes.

I think that Confederate General Thomas ‘Stonewall’ Jackson understood this; for as he lay on his deathbed he told one of his officers, “Captain, my religious belief teaches me to feel as safe in battle as in bed. God has fixed the time for my death. I do not concern myself about that, but to be always ready, no matter when it may overtake me. Captain, that is the way all men should live, and then all would be equally brave.”

I think people fear death for one of two reasons. Either they fear the pain associated with dying; especially if it a prolonged process that leads to their ultimate demise, or they fear what lies beyond. Of course, fearing what lies beyond may be due to a couple of reasons. One reason may be uncertainty as to what awaits them after their life comes to an end. The other reason may be due to the fact that they have an idea of what lies beyond, but they aren’t prepared for it. As the saying goes, ‘They haven’t gotten their lives right with God.’

I’m going to be completely honest with you; I was, and still to a certain extent, fall into that latter category; although correcting that has become my top priority. How many years, decades, did I spend learning the history of this country, and its system of government, when that time could have been spent learning what God wanted from me? I do not know if that describes any of those who are reading this, but if it does, the only time it is too late to ‘get right’ with God is the moment your soul departs your body.

Unfortunately, people seem to be more concerned with what is happening in this country and who currently sits in the Oval Office than they do where they will spend eternity. People, at least a great many of them, won’t even admit (even to themselves) that they were taken in, fooled, by someone they voted for. They cannot seem to accept that these ‘politicians’ are slick salesmen; they know that to get elected they will have to become better liars (more convincing liars) than those they are running against.

The sad thing about it is that so few see through their lives; believing that ‘this time’ they are voting for the guy who is going to fix everything. Then, when everything does not get fixed, they blame the ‘other’ party for getting in the way; obstructing their guy’s agenda. This process repeats itself over, and over, and over again; trapping people in an endless, and futile, cycle of hope; a phenomenon I refer to as the Two Party Paradigm.

The Two Party Paradigm does not exist to give you an alternative to the ‘other’ party, it exists to prevent you from taking too close a look at the system itself; for if people were to do that they would come to the same conclusion that I have; that the system should never have been adopted in the first place; that it is a system designed by the elite to serve and benefit them.

That is why I no longer vote, and I do not pay too much attention to what the system is doing; even though it adversely affects my life. I realize (now) that I cannot defeat the ignorance that permeates America today; so I choose not to fight against it. As the old saying goes, ‘You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.’ The same thing applies to the truth; you can show it to people, but you cannot make them accept it.

There have been (many) times that I seriously considered not writing anymore. I thought, why bother when people do not want to hear what I have to say. It was only when I began the process of shifting my focus away from secular concerns, turning my heart and mind towards God, that I began to think of myself as a watchman; as described in Ezekiel 33. It is not my job to concern myself if people listen to what I have to say; it is my job to say it regardless of whether or not anyone listens to me. If people choose to ignore me, then I’ve done my job and I will not be held accountable for what happens to them because they did not listen.

There is another passage from Scripture that is similar in nature; this being what is found in Matthew 13:3-9. In this passage Christ relates the parable of the sower; how a man sowed seeds and some of them fell by the way and were devoured up, while some fell into thorns and were choked out; yet some fell into good soil and produced in abundance. I am a sower; I sow the truth; or at least the truth to the best of my knowledge/understanding. I am not saying I know everything, I am constantly learning new things; things that cause me to revise my beliefs and opinions. But what I possess, and many others seem to lack, is a desire to seek out the truth; no matter where it takes me…and the truth has taken me here; where I firmly believe that unless this country repents of its sin/s, and turns its heart back to God, then it is doomed.

While each of us is individually responsible for our own actions, for the choices we make, when it comes to spirituality, the pulpit is supposed to serve as shepherds for the faithful; teaching them what the Bible says; not some bastardized and politically correct rendition of Scripture. If people are easily led astray by the people they vote for, then that is multiplied exponentially by their pastors and priest; who often do exactly what Christ spoke of in Matthew 15:9, “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”

                         Reverend Charles Finney

The late Reverend Charles Finney could very well have been talking about America today when he said, “If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it.” (December 4, 1783)

In Matthew 24:4-5 Christ warned, “Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.” Yet, since people have lost the ability, or desire, to discern the truth, they are, in fact, being deceived; both in regards to secular, and spiritual, concerns. If people are so easily fooled by politicians whose lies would easily be exposed by a rudimentary investigation of the facts, then what do you think is going to happen when the Antichrist comes?

All manner of things have been written and said about the Antichrist; with some claiming that Trump, or Biden, or any of the other elected officials people have voted for, is/was the Antichrist. From what I have learned, which isn’t as much as it needs to be, the Antichrist will not be an American politician who brings the people of America together in a spirit of unity; he will be a world figure who brings the world together under the false banner of peace and prosperity; if they obey his rule. Like I said, I need to learn more, so if I got that wrong I would appreciate it if someone more knowledgeable than me would correct me.

I look around me and I see a country filled with people who cannot see the evil that exists right in front of their eyes. Not only can they not see it, they often support and applaud it. The Book of Isaiah warns, ‘Woe unto them who call evil good and good evil.’ (Isaiah 5:20) We are all sinners in God’s eyes, yet we are washed clean of our sins by Christ’s redeeming sacrifice on the cross; if we accept Him as our savior and do our best to live according to His teachings.

While Christ lived, His concern was not with earthly governments; as seen in the numerous times in the responses He gave to whether or not the people should obey their earthly rulers, or pay tribute to Caesar. The entirety of Christ’s message was for people to live according to the rules (laws) that govern the Kingdom of Heaven; He simply showed us the way; we must choose whether or not to follow.

I cannot see how anyone who professes to be a follower of Christ can support this system of government, or any government that does not recognize God’s law as superior to the laws written by men. Then, when you add in the fact that this government, the one established by the CON-stitution, has a long history of doing evil things (something else that people refuse to accept) you find yourself in contradiction to your faith.

I never understood that until I stopped studying history, stopped caring what those the people elect do, and started studying Scripture. I am told that, because I do not vote, that I am allowing evil to hold office. Well, if the Constitution was all that people make it out to be, then this evil would be unable to wield any power over us…would it? That is why I still, from time to time, throw out the following Lysander Spooner quote, “But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain – that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case it is unfit to exist.”

If our government were founded upon God’s law, then those we elect would not be able to do the evil things it does. It is because the Constitution rejects God, supplanting His supremacy for the supremacy of men, that we are in the boat we are in; or, as the old saying goes, ‘Up shit creek without a paddle.’

People, even many Christians, do not want to admit this, but government has become their religion; with the Constitution being their scripture, the Supreme Court being their high priests, and We the People being their god.

People participate in religious festivities (elections) and they celebrate pagan beliefs; such as how they support a woman’s right to murder her unborn child, or the right of gays to enter into holy matrimony with one another.

People today are so blind to the evil that exists in this country; refusing to accept that it is as bad as some of us say it is. Look at how people reject the belief that those they elect are criminals and pedophiles; even though there is plenty of evidence that proves that to be fact. Look at what passes for entertainment today; celebrations and festivities that come strait out of Satan’s handbook as far as perversion and demonology go. We are drowning in evil and people say that we are a morally upright and righteous nation. What hypocrisy!

2 Timothy tells us, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof…” It then tells us, “…from such turn away.” I take that to mean that we should have no part in what those who turn away from God do; that we should only worry about rebuking the evil we see, and living (to the best of our ability) in accordance to God’s laws.

In Ephesians 6 we are given a set of instructions on how we should live, “Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.” (Verses 6-8)

Then, in verse 12 we are told who the real enemy is, and it isn’t the Republicans or the Democrats, they are merely puppets who serve Satan, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

People say that they believe in God, yet they often say that there is no such thing as the devil (Satan); that the evil that exists is the result only of man’s weakness of character. There are a couple of scenes in the film Nefarious that people ought to pay attention to. The first scene is when the state certified psychiatrist assigned with determining if Edward Wayne Brady is sane enough to be executed says, “I didn’t know this was a fight” to which the demon Nefarious tells him, “That’s why you’re losing.”

The second scene people should pay attention to comes when the psychiatrist calls a priest in to get his opinion on whether demonic possession is real or not. The priest claims that demonic possession is largely metaphorical, not to be taken literally; that many of the things that bother us are just our own fears and disordered thoughts. In other words, there is no such thing as demonic possession; it is a mental illness. If that is true, then who, or what, did Christ cast out of people? I would urge you to go back and re-read that quote from the Reverend Charles Finney; for the pulpit is largely to blame for this as well.

We are in a war, and we have been at war since the serpent came to the Garden of Eden and tempted Eve. God sought to destroy all evil from the face of the earth when He brought the flood upon the world; but the evil remained; rising again at Bable and in Sodom and Gomorrah. To think that the evil just took a 4,000 year nap since is preposterous. The evil still exists, and it is working tirelessly to turn people away from God; and people’s refusal to accept that fact is making its job a whole lot easier.

I truly pity people when the end comes; for they will see and experience things that will rock their beliefs to the core. Some will follow the Antichrist; seeing as how they are so easily misled by lying politicians seeking their votes. Others will tremble in terror over the things they see; demons, and possibly giants (Nephilim) walking the face of the earth; waging war against all those who believe in, and follow, Christ.

People think that times are hard no; they have absolutely no idea of how hard things are going to get before Christ returns and vanquishes evil once and for all. If we (those of us living right now) are still alive when the end times come our faith will be tested like never before; and only those who endure to the end will be granted entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven; “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13)

It is my fervent prayer that you be found among those worthy to enter into God’s Kingdom, but to do so you MUST put aside your petty concerns and bickering over which ‘man appointed’ ruler is going to rule over you, and you MUST start thinking about whether or not you are living your life in accordance to God’s will. As Psalm 146:3-5 states, “Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God.”

Acts 4:12 also tells us, “”For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. ‘ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

I urge you, I plead with you, to open your eyes to what is really happening in this country; how evil is causing more and more people to turn away from God’s word and pursue the lusts of their hearts. As I said in the beginning, the only time too late to turn away from your wicked ways is after your soul has departed your body. You still have times to repent of your evil and wicked ways; I suggest you make good use of it. I fear, however, that time is running out. The signs are all there; for those who have ears to hear and eyes to see. Be not of this world, as Christ tells us in John 15:19, but set your hearts upon the Kingdom of Heaven.

And that’s all I have to say for today. May the spirit of the Lord be upon you, and may it open your eyes and your hearts to the truth…Amen
