(A Literary Bitch Slap Across People’s Faces)
One of the most laughable things I’ve ever heard is when people say that this election is the most important of their lifetime; and you hear it from someone every election cycle. The reason people say that is due to the fact that their minds are trapped in the prison of the two-party paradigm; they look at elections as a battle between the Democrats and the Republicans; while I look at it as a battle between government, and freedom and liberty. From my perspective, no matter which candidate gets the most votes (actual votes or fraudulent ones) government wins, and we lose.
I am not saying this is true about everybody, but it is true about enough people to make it concerning; People don’t seem to care that much about what government does; they only care about which party is doing it. What do I mean by that? Well, for one thing, people tend to turn a blind eye when their party does things that they condemn the other party for doing.
There is also the fact that, regardless of which party is in power, the national debt continues to climb. You don’t hear much about that in Presidential Debates, do you? The reason that is not brought up is because to lower the debt government would have to stop doing about 99% of the things people expect it to; while still collecting the same amount in taxes. People would not stand for paying taxes and not getting any services in return for them. So the debt is the elephant in the room that no one (except those who see government for what it truly is) wants to talk about.
Then there is the fact that, regardless of which party is in power (and this is aimed at all you constitutional conservatives) you never see any of the rights government has infringed upon being restored to you. Why is that; why don’t your precious Republicans repeal the laws the evil Democrats have passed which have stripped you of your rights and liberty? In short, what have the Republicans done to restore your freedom? Answer me that… PLEASE!
There is one other question I would like to ask before I move on. Why is it that every time there is a crisis, every time we are told that we must make sacrifices, every time we are told we must tighten our belts if we want to get through it, the rich seem to get richer; while we suffer? During the recent Covid scandemic nearly every billionaire in America saw their wealth increase; some as much as 25%. Yet people, thanks to the lockdowns, lost their businesses; their livelihoods.
Why is it, when a financial institution, or investment house, faces bankruptcy due to poor management, they are declared ‘too big to fail’ and bailed out; yet when people, through no fault of their own, (such as the lockdowns) lost their livelihoods, the government tossed them a few hundred dollars and told them to move on with their lives; to ‘get over it?’
How is it that people cannot see who their government serves (who it was established to serve) when the truth is staring them right in their bloody faces, then they need to have their head examined; and they certainly ought not to be voting! Is it because people have not been taught how to recognize the truth when it is staring them right in the eyes, or is it because they do not want to accept the truth; because to accept it would place a certain amount of the blame for the sad shape our country is in squarely upon their shoulders?
There seems to be one thing that people (from both sides of the political aisle) seem not to notice, or care to talk about; that being that, regardless of their beliefs as individuals, government does not exist to serve their political party. The things government does affect each of us as individuals, so each individual’s wants, needs, and beliefs should be taken into considerations when enacting any law; or imposing any tax.
The moment the wants, needs, and beliefs of groups, or factions, come into play when determining what laws government shall pass there will always be those who feel that government is not doing what it should be doing; that it does not represent them. The ironic thing about that is, that is how anarchists such as myself feel regardless of which party is in control of the dog and pony show; we don’t like what happens when the Democrats are in power, and we don’t like what happens when the Republicans are in power; we just wish the whole system would fall into a massive sinkhole; never to be seen or heard from again!
While I am no longer a fan of Ronald Reagan, when he ran for president against Jimmy Carter one of his campaign slogans was, ‘Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?’ People (those of the Republican faith) took that to mean, ‘Are you better off after 4 years of a Democrat in the Oval Office than you were 4 years ago?’ What people dare not ask themselves is, ‘Has government, over the course of its existence, made things better or worse?’ Not only does that question frighten them, it also requires too much thought; it requires them to step outside the prison of their political party ideology and look at government as an institution.
There is something else that people do not seem to give much thought to, although I have spoken of it from time to time in my essays; that being the fact that even if their political party did have all the answers, the system is erected in such a way that their party is not assured of always being in control; the electorate (the voters) can easily vote your party out of power and replace it with their party if they do not like the things that government is doing.
There is also the fact that, thanks to the 22nd Amendment, the president YOU choose can only serve two terms; leaving the door open for someone who is less able, or more evil and corrupt, to assume control. So even if you believed that Obama was your political messiah, or that Trump is, they can only serve two terms. So who will carry the torch for them after they have reached their term limits; who will carry the banner forward based upon their vision for what is best for this country?
Although I am not saying that any of them are worth a hill of beans, if you believe that your choice for president is the best choice for America, then whom will you vote for to carry their agenda forward when they are prevented from serving another term due to the restrictions imposed by the 22nd Amendment? You chose that individual from among the many who came forward from within the party machinery to seek that office because you believed he was the best. So, does that mean that you are willing to settle for less than best, more evil/corrupt, just to ensure that the ‘other’ party does not gain control of the system?
Do you not see the inherent flaw in that way of thinking; in that way of choosing who will manage this system of government; whose policies the administration will push forward for the next four years? I certainly do. Think about it, (if you are capable of the kind of thinking required for this), if you start off with an absolute angel of a president, then every time there is an election you are settling for something less than that person. Eventually you will end up with someone who is so inept, so evil, so corrupt, that they don’t even deserve to be sucking air; let alone holding the highest office in the land!
Although I truly do not believe that Joe Biden is running the show, no more than I believed GW Bush was running the show, (Or George Washington for that matter) he is a perfect example of what happens when you settle for less than best; a bumbling fool who could not find his way out of a room with only one door in it! The lesser of two evils is still evil; and Joe Biden is the current example of what happens when people put that belief into practice at the voting booth. I dare not think of who will follow him; Gavin Newsom, perhaps. If that be the case, then heaven help us; for it is clear that the voting public has neither the integrity, or the intellect, to do so.
It would not surprise me to learn that people have not read the Farewell Address written by outgoing president George Washington; they weren’t delivered on TV back then; in case you weren’t aware! In his Farewell Address Washington wrote, “However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”
On the surface, what Washington said seems to make sense; and I am guilty of having used that quote without fully understanding the context of it. Let me try to explain why Washington said that. Not only was Washington pretty much unanimously supported by all people, he was a Federalist; one of the men responsible for producing the abomination that is our Constitution. His administration (for anyone who has taken the time to examine what it did) was key in getting the ball moving forward towards implementing the agenda of the Federalists; the reason they needed this system to replace the one established by the Articles of Confederation.
Therefore, as factions (political parties) only began to arise during his administration, he saw them as a threat to the agenda of the Federalists; those who wrote the Constitution to create a government that would serve them; a Constitution of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich. So Washington was not so much opposed to parties as he was opposed to parties that might seek to limit, or restrict, the things government could do.
If you look back at the Washington administration you will see that in nearly every instance that his Secretary of State (Thomas Jefferson) opposed the policies of his Secretary of the Treasury (Alexander Hamilton) you will see that Washington sided with Hamilton. It was around the beliefs of Thomas Jefferson that the Democrats can trace their ancestry; if you want to call it that.
However, if you were to compare the ideology of modern-day Democrats to the ideology of Thomas Jefferson, you will see that they don’t even come close to being the same. That, in part, is due to the fact that, after the Civil War, the Democrats were pushed out of power thanks to Reconstruction; that if they wanted to remain a viable political party they would have to change; shift their ideology.
So, elections today are not so much about whether the people will elect someone to office who will uphold the Constitution (although the Constitution was written in such a way as to place no limits upon the government it outlines), nor are elections about which candidate will best secure the rights and liberty of every individual in America. No, elections today are merely two warring factions fighting for control of a system of government that has no limits to the atrocities it can commit; no limit to how much it can tyrannize and oppress the people.
Yet people either cannot, or will not, see that; for they are blinded by their partisan ideologies. People see the ‘other’ party as their mortal enemies; yet they turn a blind eye to the crimes their party is guilty of. We will never, and I say NEVER, fix what is wrong in this country so long as that mindset continues to prevail.
One more thing, then I will let you get back to what you were doing. I have seen memes on social media saying that if Hitler and Stalin were running against one another, the people would end up voting one of them into office; based upon their ideologies and values. I would like to take that even further. Although I am not saying He would do so, imagine an election in which Christ was running for President on one ticket, and on the other ticket Satan was running.
Now, imagine that Christ’s campaign was based upon loving one another, respecting people’s lives, property, and rights; that people should be charitable towards one another; do unto others as they would have them do unto them. Then imagine that Satan ran on the ideology of do whatever you want, there is not good or evil; that government can, and ought to, plunder from others to benefit you.
Imagine that were the choice you were facing this upcoming November; who do you think would win the election? I’ll tell you who; if that were, in fact, the choice people were facing in November, our next president would be Satan; and that’s all you need to know about how screwed up this system is; not to mention how corrupt and immoral we as a people have become.
And that’s all I have to say on that; I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming…
