Or do we just say, ‘the hell with it all!’???
April 25, 2006 – It has been a long time since I have had any desire to write any new columns for this publication, and frankly this is the closest that I am able to come at this point. You will soon understand why.
Earlier today, I received a phone call from a great friend and former contributor to The Federal Observer, Karen-Lee Bixman. Our conversation was comprised of catching up with the world around us – in other words – our families – among other things. Amongst the reasons she called me, was to thank me for having maintained her archives all these years (her last official submission was on January 28, 2004), as her now grown children are beginning to inquire of her work. While doing a quick archival search of our old files, the following column came before me, and while some of the details have changed, my sentiments persist. (NOTE: Due to some technical updates of this site, the old archives of the Federal Observer are no longer available.)
For those readers, who listen to my daily internet-radio broadcast, you will have noticed my recent ongoing frustrations and anger over the direction of this nation, politically, financially and spiritually – sentiments, which I have visited before. The following I share with you, realizing that I am not alone in my feelings. ~ JB
The following column was originally published on the first generation Federal Observer April 25, 2006 and subsequently republished in 2013 (and have now updated and republished in 2020). Some columns never go out of style. Tonight, I have made some minor edits – but nothing has really changed…
Coffee and biscuits with the Joad’s
Due to an abnormally heavy client load and obligations – both business and professional, it has now been over two weeks since I have had the ability to update The Federal Observer.
Because of 18 to 20 hours days and client phone calls coming to me “as seen on TV”, where people believe that there are “operators standing buy” to take your orders for grossly over-priced “rare-coins” and Tiffany-style lamps, over this past weekend I found myself suffering from exhaustion and dehydration. In my nearly 60 hours of bed-ridden misery, I began to hallucinate about client portfolios, sucking toes and the future of the publication, you now find yourself reading. (The sucking toes part I just added for a little spice).
By early Sunday morning, I began to believe that the time had come to shut the damned thing down. Let’s face it; in less than six and one-half years we had published nearly 40,000 columns (99% fewer than one-third of which remain in the archives), dealing with subjects, which SHOULD matter to the average America but doesn’t seem to.
We have covered the modern Militia movement in America during this past fifteen twenty years plus, beginning with the recanting of the tale of the Weaver family in an obscure area of Idaho, now known as “Ruby Ridge,” the Davidian Massacre at the hands of Reno the Butcher (and Holder her handyman), on to Oklahoma City and the saga of McVeigh and Associates, John Doe (the elusive “Third Man“), the ongoing Peckerdillos of Willy J. and his co-President – the Bitch from Hell – and all the rest of the diabolical cover-ups through the Administrations of the Clinton and Bushit-artists and now the Muslim’s from Hell – the Obamanites.
We continue to address health and wellness (some of it through the association of our dearly departed former colleague, Dr. William Donald Kelley through his website, Victory Over Cancer), the financial ruination of America through the machinations of globalists and their blood-sucking partners – the International Banksters, education, environmental issues (perceived and otherwise), 9/11 – the event, the aftermath and the apparent cover-ups, which were used as the excuse to wage a multiple of wars against peoples who were not even eating at McDonalds on the day of attack. … and this just an overview!
We’ve published so much that I can’t even remember the range of subjects covered by our talented writers including Rick Biesada, Linda Shrock-Taylor, Nancy Levant, Lady Liberty, Metcalf, Alan Caruba, S. J. Miller, Karen-lee Bixman, Frederick Meekins, Carl Worden, Mark Terry, Jan Herron, Frosty Wooldridge, Makow, Stang, Cliff Jones, SARTRE, Knifeman (Stephen J. Norling, a trusted and old friend), Warren “Bones” Bonesteel and the one man I could not have done all of this without Louis Turner – and so many others that I can’t even remember at this moment. Without these dedicated people – The Federal Observer could never have become what it is today and what it could become in the future.
Tom: Ma, there comes a time when a man gets mad.
Ma: You told me, you promised me…
Tom: I know, Ma, I’m tryin’ to. If there was a law they was workin’ with, maybe we could take it but it ain’t the law. They’re workin’ away on our spirits, tryin’ to make us cringe and crawl, workin’ on our decency.
Ma: You promised Tom.
Tom: I know, I’m a-tryin’ to, Ma…
Ma: You gotta keep clear. The family’s a-breakin’ up. You gotta keep clear.
Over the past two years, we have spent more time and devoted more space to the issue of the illegal invasion of America (even devoting a now defunct web-site, ‘No Stinking Amnesty‘ to the subject). I have begun to know how Doug Thompson, founder of Capitol Hill Blue felt every so often – “It’s time to wake up and smell the coffee,” – because nobody really seems to give a shit!
“C’mon Captain, take some time away from it all. Take a roll in the hay with the wife, smoke a joint with your son – relax man – you’ve done your time – let someone else pick up the pace. Chill out! While Junior was whacking off in a coffin, you served about eighteen months more in country than John Kerry – you took your oath and defended the nation – for some other oil company – came home, took your licks, stood up like a man and got on with your life.
You made a couple of great kids – who still seem to get lost on the road-map of life occasionally – and now you have three grandchildren who mean the world to you. Take some time off Cap’n – the problems of the world will still be there when you get back. What’s a few months or a few years anyway???”
Well up your’s Jack! Yes, I took an oath to “uphold and defend the Constitution against all enemies – both foreign and domestic.” That oath was taken on November 7, 1965 and over 50 years later – I still stand by that oath. You see, an oath is nothing more than your commitment – “your binding word” – and Pilgrim, words are what men live by!
Tom: They’re gonna drive me anyways. Sooner or later, they’d get me for one thing if not for another. Till then…
Ma: Tommy, you’re not aimin’ to kill nobody?
Tom: No, Ma, not that. It’s just, well, as long as I’m an outlaw anyways, maybe I can do somethin’. Maybe I can just find out somethin’, just scrounge around and maybe find out what it is that’s wrong and see if ain’t somethin’ can be done about it. I ain’t thought it all out clear in my mind, I can’t. I don’t know enough.
Ma: How am I gonna know about ya, Tommy? Why, they could kill ya and I’d never know. They could hurt ya. How am I gonna know?
What is the mission of The Federal Observer?
(from the FAQ section of this publication) As its name suggests, our mission is to keep watch over the continual indiscretions of our “beloved” Federal Government and to report wrongs against the Constitution – and America’s people.
Our mission is to make the reader think – for him or herself for once – then to react and ACT upon the information, which we provide.
While co-hosting a radio broadcast with Robbie Noel on April 25th – in the Year of Our Lord, 2006, I was given the shot in the arm that I needed, when our guest, Al Garza of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps reminded me why I got into this fight to save America to begin with. Thanks Al – I’ll see you at the Gate.
There is no time to stop and take a breather – or there will be no future my two Angels – unless I get up every morning and kick a lot of ass in this world – and that is why The Federal Observer must pick up the banner once more and forge ahead. I pray for help and guidance, but as stated in the song, “Soliliquy” from Roger’s and Hammerstein’s Carousel says, “I’ll try by God, I’ll try!” I may a little slow from time to time – but if I get that way – just kick-start me – ’cause Ill be around – and so will The Federal Observer.
Tom: “A fella ain’t got a soul of his own, just a little piece of a big soul – the one big soul that belongs to ever’body. Then…then, it don’t matter. I’ll be all around in the dark. I’ll be ever’-where – wherever you can look. Wherever there’s a fight so hungry people can eat, I’ll be there. Wherever there’s a cop beatin’ up a guy, I’ll be there. I’ll be in the way guys yell when they’re mad – I’ll be in the way kids laugh when they’re hungry an’ they know supper’s ready. An’ when the people are eatin’ the stuff they raise, and livin’ in the houses they build – I’ll be there, too.“
I can think of no better way to close this rather brief column, but with the words of the great Patrick Henry of Virginia:
“It is natural for man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation? For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it.”
I’ll see you in a couple of hours at Sundown.
Without Apology I am,
Jeffrey Bennett, Publisher
~ Afterwords ~
Much has happened since the penning of this column. We have suffered through seven years of Obamanomics and the Socialist takeover of our beloved Republic. The Federal Observer is now in its fifteenth year of publication, having posted well over 30,000 columns (most by your truly), S.J. Miller has succumbed to cancer, as has Aaron Cantor, and Bobby Wygand and Karl Kaufmann have also passed (two long-time supporters and friends). In the past two years we have also lost great friends and contributing columnists J.D. Longstreet (in 2014) and Uncle Alan Caruba (In 2015). A few of our original contributors no longer do, while still others have joined our ranks – including Granny (Jackie Juntti), Neal Ross, Ron Ewart and Charles Dickens, Justin O. Smith, Mike Gaddy and others.
Our battles against the federal usurpers and their unwillingness to deal with the illegal invasion of this nation, had spawned a sister web-site to The Federal Observer, No Stinking Amnesty, which continued the fight of the likes of Garza, S. J. Miller, Tom Tancredo, Rick Biesada, Russell Pearce, D. A. King, and thousands of others across America. Due to lack of interest – this site has been closed…
I now have three grandchildren (all girls), and my oath to ‘protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America’ was taken fifty years ago this past November. And the battle continues.
Are YOU angry enough yet? (JB)
