It Can’t Happen Here! ~ Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention… (1966)
I chose this piece precisely because of the intentional discord and how it typifies the dissonance in our republic, particularly in Congress, the opposite of progress.
“America will never be a Socialist or Communist country.” ~ Donald J Trump… 2016
It can’t happen here…
Well, guess what campers… It did…
The House Unamerican Activities Committee (HUAC) began in 1938 as concerns about disloyalty and subversion emerged from private citizens, public employees, and organizations suspected of having fascist and communist ties. In the 1950s, Senator Joseph McCarthy became the standard-bearer and warned this republic that communist sympathizers were inside the American government.
It just so happened that a mole in the Manhattan Project in October of 1941 fed Top Secrets to Soviet Russia during the development of the first atomic bomb, jumpstarting the USSR’s march toward nuclear proliferation.
In 1945, the American Government imported 1,600 German scientists, engineers, and technicians to the US to leverage their expertise for US military technical advancements in weaponry and rocketry. These scientists, engineers, and technicians eventually became professors and thought leaders in American Academia. Many became department heads like Werner Von Braun of NASA. Remember, Nazis are the far-right National Socialist German Workers Party. Thus began the Socialist indoctrination of Americans.

Senator Joseph McCarthy: American hero
Curiously, Joseph McCarthy was not directly involved with this committee, although he is associated with what it became: McCarthyism – the political practice of publicizing accusations of disloyalty or subversion with insufficient regard to evidence and the use of methods of investigation and accusation regarded as unfair, to suppress opposition, i.e., lawfare. The loose interpretation is the Salem-style witch hunt – looking for commies under every congressional seat. It extended to Hollywood and other enterprises to arrest the Commie influences in America. [Wikipedia LINK]
Americans eventually bored from this kerfuffle, losing interest and eventually accepting this ideological invasion as the new normal. This is a frightening pattern in our republic as catastrophes compound, piling on each other, desensitizing us to this continual mayhem.
Don’t you think the left is acutely aware of this? In fact, they count on it.
There were some unfortunate miscalculations in this witch hunt: The US Constitution states: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
There are no prohibitions in the Constitution against any ideology, although there were efforts to ban Communism in 1954, but those laws were repealed via the court system as unconstitutional.
The HUAC became a standing committee in 1946, was transferred to the Committee on Internal Security in 1969, and abolished in 1975 when its functions were handed to the House Judiciary Committee.
The fox – not the network – now guarded the henhouse.
HUAC published lists of people it considered subversives, ruining many innocents’ careers and fomenting near hysteria in America. It was the ‘lawfare’ of the era. A mere suggestion of anti-American sentiment could destroy a person utterly. Hollywood was hardest hit during its reign and probably annealed their tendencies toward a left-leaning posture.

‘Modern Politigencia’
There are 535 members of Congress, the opposite of progress. 100 serve in the Senate and 435 in the U.S. House of Representatives – more correctly, House of Misrepresentatives. When referring to them together, we call it Congress, so in deference to Will Rogers, I add his epithet – The Opposite of Progress. So… from this point on, please append ‘the Opposite of Progress’ when you see the word, Congress. Honestly, I couldn’t agree more with his opinion.
Bernie Sanders and 36 of his comrades are socialists. They call themselves Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). Several years ago, I coined the phrase Nationalist American Socialist Party (NASP) as a more encompassing name for those who hate this republic and work to undo everything we were and could be if we’d work together. Communist is the broadest possible definition for this socialist movement, but Socialism dovetails with their ideals. It appears that McCarthy was right all along; they are here and have significant power to impact this republic.
There are a plethora of permutations of Communism, too many to address. It’s sufficient to know they all have a common thread running through them – they hate democracy. It’s messy and prevents any particular partisan political party from procuring power and using that force. Yet here we are today with 36 socialists in Congress fighting to control this republic by hook and by crook and making decisions that affect this republic. They regularly bring the entire body to a grinding halt, capitalizing on the CMC and creating partisan political stalemates.
Please understand that I don’t have anything against any one ideology. The theories behind them are all viable; the application and implementation create the problems. Most require a forceful or violent government overthrow, and the impact on the citizens is catastrophic. Millions die so these idealists can create a utopia for everyone, except, of course, those who were murdered in the process. Stalin killed over 9 million people to develop the Soviet Union. I guess the ends do justify the means…
We see the contentious battles for control in Congress, using any means available to pervert the Constitution and this republic. The Congressional homesteaders and squatters, especially those on the left, prove that we didn’t take Washington’s warning seriously. Today, we have the ‘Career Politician” whose sole purpose in life is to stay in office – for the good of their constituents, of course…
I was born in 1951, so much of what I know about this period is from historical records. As we all know, history is subjective, as is everything from the Corporate Media Complex (CMC) and our government. We understand that history is written by the victorious, and a product of objective interpretations, a matter of perspective.
No one bothers to ‘fact-check’ anymore. Where would you look for an accurate account of the events? If history is perspective-based, the accounts are skewed to serve that view, usually the view of the victors, to rationalize and justify their actions. Being naive is a plausible excuse if you’re young, but accepting everything as accurate is unwise as we age. There are too many quasi-scholars who would sell you a pig-in-a-poke. [LINK]
We simply accept things we see, hear, or read as the truth; we’re programmed to accept it like too many other things. We faithfully believe that everyone in Congress is an American at heart, when, in fact, many have different designs for our republic. Some even wear their animus for America as a badge of honor to differentiate themselves from the legislative herd, yet others hide their affiliations to guard their true intentions.
One wonders why they want to serve in a representative government if the goal is to destroy, not to foster it. We’ve rejected Communism in all of its forms since the 1930s. Why won’t it just go away? Because Communism is like a cancer – most cures kill the patient to eradicate the infestation. And… The US Constitution does not explicitly prohibit it.
The NASP sees communism as the perfect tool to disaffect us from our representative government and replace it with autocratic socialism. I fail to see the logic since this ideology never survives without a totalitarian or authoritarian regime to support it. Then why not jump to a dictatorship? It would save precious resources and lives.
I imagine McCarthy spinning in his grave, screaming, “I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!“
No one hears. No one is listening…
Most of this gaggle of geese in Congress contribute nothing to humanity – all they do is complain about the actions of others, particularly the other party. For this fantastic insight, we pay them $174,000 annually; incidentally, most are now millionaires.
I have a suspicion about Congress; they fight each other more than they govern.
Congress is the legislative branch of and for our republic. Why are all of their activities evaluated along partisan political lines rather than how their efforts advance the interests of all citizens – the republic? All of their efforts impede the efforts of the other party. It seems more obstructive than constructive. I’m sure it’s one of the reasons why George Washington and other original leaders warned about a two-party system and favored a Federalist ideology.
Federalist: a person who supports a federal system of government where states share power with a central government. In a federalist system, states retain their identities while being part of a larger political union that includes checks and balances to prevent any one level of government from becoming too powerful. I suppose this makes me a Federalist.
“The problem of setting up a state can be solved even by a nation of devils” if they possess a constitution that pits opposing factions against each other with a durable system of binding checks and balances. Essentially, particular states may use federation as a mechanism (a safeguard) against the possibilities of rebellion or war-or the rise of repressive government via a would-be dictator or a centralized oligarchy.
Proponents of federal systems have historically argued that the checks and balances and power-sharing inherent in a federal system reduce foreign and domestic threats. And federalism enables a state to be both large and diverse by mitigating the risk of a central government turning tyrannical.” ~ Immanuel Kant [LINK]
Our Constitution includes much of this sentiment. America’s transformation from Federalism to the Partisan Political Party approach was more about fractional control, not solidarity. It is precisely what President Washington warned against.
It’s too late now… the number of partisan parties continually increases as the opportunity to acquire power and influence appears. According to a recent count, more than 420 registered political parties are in the US, yet we only hear about the two largest and most popular: those with the most money and influence.

The Turd Sandwich!
With over 420 partisan political parties wrestling for recognition and control, the good of the republic falls to the bottom of most priority lists. As you can imagine, the viability and sovereignty of the partisan political party is their primary concern. Our representatives have lost sight of their charge: to enact laws that influence the daily lives of all Americans and serve as the people’s voice. Less than 15,000 people identify as one of the dozen communist parties in America, yet their 36 Congressional comrades disproportionately represent them. It leads you to think the entire republic is communist. Why does this minority of representatives garner so much attention? A recurring suggestion is to follow the money wherever it leads.
Communism was determined to be a highly damaging name, so the new moniker of ‘Progressives’ or ‘Far-Left’ or ‘Progressive Left’ became popular to gaslight the public. But as Shakespeare said: “A rose, by any other name, would still smell as sweet.”
Geoffrey Stokes adds: “A gilded turd is still a turd, and you cannot polish a turd.”
It doesn’t stop in Congress. It’s now prevalent in every critical part of American society.
Here are a few of the more obvious.
* Government
* Education
* Judicial
* Media
~ Government ~
There is a crucial point in America’s government. We are a representative democracy, which means we elect people to serve as our agents in the government.
A bureaucracy is appointed to manage things in departments. These administrators and petty officials work for the government, not for the people.
America is no longer a representative democracy; we are an appointed bureaucracy of petty officials who believe themselves to be above the law by virtue of their appointment. They have limited power assigned to their office and nothing more, but that never stops the ambition. This is most prevalent in the Judicial appointments of federal judges but extends into many of the ancillary departments under the administration. The Departments of Education, USAID, and EPA are excellent examples of bureaucratic fiefdoms.
Appointed bureaucrats, not elected administrators, run our republic. They have limited power based on their position yet operate as though they are omniscient and ordained. This is especially true of those in judicial robes who believe the robe imbues them with transcendent knowledge and sacrosanct entitlement.
Their departmental charters bind their power; however, these pencil-pushers are mindful of every opportunity to garner or usurp power at any opportune moment, mainly when weakness is apparent, or the charter’s precepts are intentionally ill-defined.
There is no excuse or possible way to rationalize these destructive actions or their unconscionable celebration and encouragement of violence by these Left-leaning liberal representatives. They should be held accountable for promoting this destructive sabotage.
It is pure hatred – and this is what their supporters see and believe they endorse. The messaging is clear and unmistakable: they advocate violent protests and destruction for everything they don’t like. Is there any other message you can interpret from their public approvals?
These people are an example for this republic, and as apostles, they must be accountable for what they promote.
Why are they not held accountable for sedition and insurrection?
~ Education ~
If I were to corrupt a country, academia would be the place I’d start. When you capture the minds of a nation’s future leaders, their hearts follow. The rest is easy. Once the people are in accord, they follow willingly. People will do what they believe is right, and when they’re convinced that the cause is just, they will fight for that cause.
Consider the War of Northern Aggression – the Civil War – as an example. Most of the citizens in this fledgling country believed in the movement, and some did not. But the believers fought ferociously to overcome the odds to conquer the South. They felt so strongly that they prevailed against overwhelming odds, fracturing the republic and imposing Northern control.
So, it is with impressionable students. These inquiring minds hunger for information, and anyone speaking with conviction in a carefully controlled environment will capture most of those eager minds. That’s the power of indoctrination in academia.
As I said in a previous paragraph, Nazi Socialism and its Communist ties were imported to our country under the auspices of furthering our scientific efforts. I’m suspicious about the ulterior motives of those who contrived Operation Paper Clip. The Joint Intelligence Objectives Agency (JIOA) developed the idea, which calls into question their understanding of two words in their title: Intelligence and Objectives.
How smart was it to use Nazi scientists and engineers to begin with, then allow them to become professors in our top academic institutions? Most of these scientists were ardent followers of the Nazi ideology. Expecting them to disavow those beliefs is ludicrous. Operation Paperclip offered them a chance to survive the apparent alternative.
And if this is really intelligence-based, why didn’t Operation Paperclips’ architects foresee the long-term implications and ramifications?
Was it intentional or accidental?
A cursory review of recent activism on college campuses should give you the arresting answer, exposing the biases used to splinter the remnants of society’s solidarity by indoctrinating students with the precepts of Marxism, molding them into activists to support the Left’s pernicious coup to supplant the USConstitution, the American Government, by installing a massive left-leaning bureaucracy answerable to them alone. This is part of the ‘divide and conquer ploy’ effectively pitting factions against each other as the Left metastasizes.
Advocating lawlessness and defiance of national interests and policy makes little sense except when the goal is disrupting the lives of the many to rationalize the actions of the few. Their ends justify their means. It’s essential to recognize that these protests are not spontaneous; they are skillfully orchestrated and staged by anti-American, Communist cabals bent on the overthrow of this Republic.
Some external organization funds these activities. Why does all of their paraphernalia match? The signs, backpacks, tents, and other accouterments are too similar to be coincidental, and the protestors now all wear masks to avert facial recognition technology. Who warned them?
Why do these protestors advocate nihilism over revision?
Their demands are always ultimatums to acquiesce or capitulate, not compromise.
Their message is always against an action rather than suggesting modifications. Someone is leading these mindless drones into battle. Who are the leaders of this social upheaval? Who are the Agent’s Provocateurs?
I have some ideas, but I refrain from voicing them until I have evidence. I am doubtful of people who use the 1st Amendment as a mask for anti-American activities. Why come here if your sole purpose is to overturn this country or to advance anti-American ideologies? Again, we need to follow the money to the source…
~ Judicial ~
The recent spate of judicial orders countermanding presidential directives exposes these partisan political postings. Each order originates from the bench of an NASP justice appointed by a sympathetic NASP-controlled operative/president. Stacking these courts with politically appointed individuals does the republic a grave disservice by putting partisanship about the republic’s well-being. But isn’t that the point of stacking these positions with partisan political appointees?
I realize it creates a slippery slope by suggesting that nefarious activities like attempts to subvert this country should be punished because the First Amendment speaks directly to ‘freedom of speech,’ but who is the judge of intention and the arbiter of objective?
Doesn’t that fall to the citizen-owners of this republic?
The authors of this fantastic document, the US Constitution, expected us to use our discretion and judgment when approaching these rights, not to invoke them to excuse or rationalize our dangerous and vicious animus. They presumed Americans would use open discussion to settle conflicts and reach dispassionate solutions, not litigating every challenge ad infinitum in the courts and certainly not favoring partisan politics. Debate is crucial in governing a representative democracy. Litigation should be the last resort, not the first.
Yet here we are looking to politically appointed partisan potentates (judges) to interfere in anything that doesn’t speak to their Leftist ideologies, especially if they come from the Orange Hitler.
This level of judicial interference seems singularly self-serving. Is the judiciary’s role to impede the progress of the Executive Branch of the Government or arbitrate fairness in the apportionment of the law? The US Constitution seems clear if you read the document subjectively, but the clarity fades into obscurity when read objectively. All of the evidence points directly to objective rather than subjective interpretation of the Constitution and the purview of liberal judges. Their mantra is: “Must Stop Orange Hitler…” This is an extension of their pre-election lawfare… Tie Him Up In Court. He’ll be distracted, unable to concentrate on the task at hand – running the country…
~ Media ~
There is little doubt that the CMC and its myriad of broadcasting companies – 50 primary and over 105 minor outlets – are partisan and politically biased. Six major corporations control 90 subordinate stations; the remaining few are relatively independent. A few are migrating toward a less partisan affiliation, careful not to tread on too many NASP toes. This shift to a centrist position is evident in their coverage and treatment of controversial topics, as opposed to the strident left-leaning stance of a few months ago.
Still, old habits and tendencies like Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) and other leftist positions are hard to break. Their partisan biases are still evident and as vitriolic as ever. Leopards can’t change their spots, and partisan political bias in reporting is inexorably ingrained. They created ‘Trump & Musk Derangement Syndrome’ (T&DMS) and fostered it at every opportunity. They are responsible for the attempted assassinations and all the damage done to personal and corporate property by the protests they encourage. It’s time to demand accountability and compensation from those who insight sedition.
The CMC lends tacit approval to the violent protests and wanton destruction of private property by showing and aggrandizing these activities with no disclaimer, editorial comment, or denunciation. It’s not so much what’s said as what’s implied by their silence and how these stories are presented. It appears to advocate or embolden what’s shown. They popularize these reprehensible behaviors by not disparaging or condemning them.
Responsibility is implied in broadcasting information to the public, especially when it’s offered as news and not opinion.
Are they not accountable as well?
This is the CMC culture and is now that of Merka.
“Truth has no defense against a fool determined to believe a lie.” ~ Mark Twain
Fool: a silly or stupid person or a person who lacks judgment or sense; a person who has been tricked or deceived into appearing or acting silly or ridiculous; a weak-minded or idiotic person.
Yup… That quote about sums it up…

~ The Author ~
Charles R. Dickens was born in 1951, is a veteran of the Vietnam war, for which he volunteered, and the great-great grandson of the noted author, whose name he shares.
He is a fiercely proud American, who still believes this is the greatest country on the planet, with which we’ve lost control and certainly our direction. He grew up in moderate financial surrounding; we’re not rich by any stretch, but didn’t go hungry – his incredibly hard working father saw to that. As most from that era, he learned about life from his father, whose story would take too long to tell, other than to say that, he is also a fiercely proud American; a WWII and Korean war, veteran Marine.
Charlie was educated in the parochial system which, demanded that you actually learn something, and have capability to retain it before you advance. He attended several universities in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree, and chased the goose further to a master’s, and has retained some very definite ideas about education in this country.
In addition, Charlie is a retired blues guitar and vocalist – a musician. This was his therapy career. Nothing brings him as much joy as playing music, and he wishes that he could make a living at it… but alas… life goes on!
