I happen to be in the camp that the U.S. actually should have been there helping the South Vietnamese to stop the communists, but like so many other wars we have subsequently entered, I’ve always thought we should have taken the lead and executed the military strategy to win definitively and quickly rather than allow it to drag out as it did.

The historical record proves without a doubt that we could have and should have won that war, especially when one discovers that Nixon’s bombing campaign of the Ho Chi Minh Trail had the North Vietnamese within two weeks of surrender before he lifted it, due to the far left anti-war demonstrators rioting in our streets, communist instigators like the Students for a Democratic Society and the Weather Underground.
