Dickens: The Church of Perpetual Outrage (Worship at the Altar of Righteous Indignation…)

I’ve been aware of a disturbing contrarian trend for some time, but recently, it’s become more of a religion than an attitude or frame of mind. Religion is the best way I can describe what I see playing out in partisan political arenas. It’s as though we’re reenacting the Crusades of the 11th through the 13th centuries. This time, the armies are the Marxists and the Federalists; the Holy Land is Merka.

The tactics are reminiscent of the Spanish Inquisition, only in a suit and tie, performed in congressional chambers, broadcast for the faithful to partake in the Left’s righteous indignation. You’re guilty because we say you are.

Evidence? No problem: we’ll create whatever we need. After all, we own the Black Robed Bandits throughout Merka. It is an example to any who dare challenge the Holy and Almighty American Marxist Party’s viewpoint

How dare you disagree – you know we’re right!

They approach this crusade with the same zeal as Catholicism’s battle to conquer heresy in the 15th and 16th centuries. Challenges to the Right’s proposal are blasphemy. Questioning who it benefits is heresy. Any disagreement represents a significant affront to those on the Left, and is met with the same brutality as heresy – the auto-da-fes – public burnings, lighting the way to an illuminated future. Today’s heretics are roasted in the court of public opinion on the altars of righteous indignation – the Corporate Media Complex and Not So Social Media.

This article is about an ideology, pseudo-religion, and dogma that finds fault with everything and then glorifies what’s wrong for public consumption to sell its particular brand of snake oil. In this case, snake oil is the potion, panacea, promise, or remedy to fix what the high priests of the Left perceive as unacceptable; they will provide deliverance through Marxism!

Those who look for the bad in people will surely find it.” ~ Abraham Lincoln (1838)

Lincoln’s comment concerns people disrespecting the law or courts and how this could destroy the country. I want to extend this to include looking for fault in everything, not just people.

Merkan culture today is painfully disparaging. The American Marxist Party (AMP) has nothing good to say about anything. It is hyper-critical of everything they deem contrary, anyone who is not in their cult, or opposed to their narrative. Unless they are the sponsor or advocate for it, they are seen as an existential threat to democracy, creating a constitutional crisis, or they will destroy this republic utterly. They are an enemy of the people and the party.

I am aware of a corollary with the Islamic faiths because they are ‘death cults.’ They believe that everything that is not based on Islam is a sacrilege and is punishable by death. Paradise is achieved through faith, good deeds, and avoiding sin. According to their clerics, death for the faith is the surest path to Paradise.

This underlines the growth of the suicide bomber; motivations can range from religious beliefs, nationalist aspirations, to a desire for revenge, or to protest a government or ideology. Their attacks cause significant casualties, psychological trauma, and can destabilize entire regions or countries.

Niccolò Machiavelli, Patron Saint of Justification ~ Especially America’s Government

The End Justifies the Means.” You may recall this phrase from history and many of my articles. Autocrats have used it extensively to take over societies. Its origins are in the Roman Empire, but it’s been used successfully in every coup d’état. The sentiment coalesced in Niccolo Machiavelli’s book ‘The Prince’ (1513) and is paraphrased as “The End Justifies the Means,” which implies that doing something can be judged by what happens because of it. It is the rationale du jour for the Merkan Governments.

The Corporate Media Complex (CMC), and especially partisan political parties and their actors, are prejudiced by their contempt for the other side and expect you to enlist to become part of their flock of Sheeple, nodding approvingly and following blindly.

This is the expectation of most cults, including the American Marxist Party (AMP), the party you may know as the Democrats. Honestly, not all Democrats are Marxists; some are liberal patriots and loyal to this republic. AMP represents the preeminent Ultra-Left of that party. They are nearly indistinguishable thanks to the notoriety provided by the CMC.

The best description of AMP is contrarian, someone who takes an opposing view on everything, regardless of the cause, and opposes the other’s view. AMPs’ bold defiance, open disregard, and contempt feed their minions, instigating conflict at every opportunity. Their devotees will do whatever liberal translation they interpret from the High Priests’ inferences or innuendos.

AMP is about manipulating and twisting information, using it to further the narrative of The Church of Perpetual Outrage. The religious doctrine is Righteous Indignation. In fairness, every political party leans on manipulations to further its cause.

Religion is: ‘the belief in and worship of a superhuman power or powers, especially God, gods, or demigods; a pursuit to which someone ascribes supreme importance; a particular system of faith and worship.’

Ideology is: ‘a system of ideas or ideals, especially one that forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy.’

Dogma is: ‘something held as an established opinion, especially a definite authoritative tenet – a principle or belief, especially one of a religion or philosophy.

Philosophy is: ‘the study of fundamental questions about the world and ourselves, using reason and analysis.’

Doctrine is: “a particular principle, position, or policy taught or advocated, as of a religion or government.”

79% of America’s population believes in something greater than themselves and feels confident and appropriate to claim partisan affiliation.

– 42% were Democrats,

– 58% were Republicans,

– Fewer than 2% were considered others.

Religion, ideology, philosophy, dogma, and doctrine all share a common thread: they offer frameworks for understanding the world and our place in it, often involving beliefs, values, and principles that shape how individuals and societies behave. These systems can be based on faith, reason, or both, and they can influence how people perceive reality, make decisions, and interact with others.

These belief systems, including politics, all involve a moral and ethical framework; they influence behavior, require actions or decisions, and demand dedication to the cause. There are no avowals, statements, or affirmations of right or wrong, good or bad. That’s for the believer to decide, but the commonalities allow me to codify these characteristics into something simpler: a Belief System (BS).

I want to take this article in a different direction than you expect, so rather than saying that all of the above is BS, I refuse to belittle or demean someone’s beliefs. What and how you believe is your business and a profoundly personal decision. And frankly, I couldn’t care less. I am adamant that your choices impact those around you. I’ll use BS in this article for brevity; make of it what you will. Interestingly, Bull Shit is also a belief system…

Following this to the inevitable conclusion, believing in nothing is still believing, so even a person who doesn’t believe in anything is often described as an atheist, according to the dictionary. Atheism is the belief that there is no god or divine being. However, it’s important to distinguish between atheism and agnosticism, where agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in the existence of a god. Some might also identify as nihilists, who say that all values have no foundation, and nothing can be known or communicated if it doesn’t exist.

Don’t think too hard; this fringe philosophy is meant to perplex even the most profound thinkers. It’s in the graduate-level philosophy classes.

Thank you, Professor Pedantic – a person who obsesses over specifics or conventions, often at the expense of understanding the underlying principles. Yes, I am sometimes pedantic; I’m a teacher by avocation.

When you decide to become a person of faith, regardless of the name of that ideology, religion, or Belief System (BS), you assume responsibility for your choice. We are usually so excited about our discovery that we want to share it with the world, especially our friends. Here’s where Not So Social Media (NSSM) enters the picture, as those of you who frequent the NSSM sites attest. How many of you photograph and share photos of your meals on NSSM?

As you share, you discover other believers of your new BS and begin to collaborate, strengthening your commitment to this new BS. You meet more people like yourself. You’ve joined the NSSM cults, support groups that reinforce your decisions, provide needed impetus and encouragement, and possibly incite you to carry out your mission… whatever that happens to be.

The question must be: How will my choice impact me, and those around me?

Yes, we seldom, if ever, consider others when making decisions. It’s not as significant for individuals but crucial for our elected officials, whose decisions affect millions.

Responsibility is another of the nasty words stricken from AMP’s lexicon, never to be mentioned in their indoctrination camps, where you’re taught that nothing is your fault because we’re victims, it’s always someone else who caused it or forced it on you through systemic or endemic racism or some other perverse, pervasive, and pusillanimous social injustice.

This is where accepting personal responsibility becomes critical. I recognize this is a difficult proposition for the entitled and victim classes to embrace, but if we’re going to right this ship of state, we must look past righteous indignation and consider the consequences of our decisions, both personal and collective, and what they imply.

You’re right… This is BS, by every possible interpretation of the acronym BS.

That’s the prologue.

Nothing annoys me more than when someone expects you to be okay with something that wouldn’t be okay with if it were done to them… ~ Cody Bret

My premise: Merkans worship in the Church of Perpetual Outrage and at the Altar of Righteous Indignation.

In 2021, USA Today’s Article “Have you heard the news…” called the news ‘a mosh pit’ twenty years in the making.

A mosh pit is an area in front of the stage at a rock concert where the audience dances energetically and violently. This article suggests that news delivery fundamentally changed at the turn of the century. I believe it started much earlier, but I’m not an expert, merely a commentator.

That tracks nicely with our society’s migration from considerate to entitled, patriotic to traitorous, and accommodating to biased. The transformation also follows the explosion of the internet and streaming services, which made it possible for anyone with a cell phone to become a roving reporter, news anchor, or commentator. There are now thousands of outlets for what passes for news, and no matter how you spin it, most of it is interpreted negatively to fit a specific narrative or bias. Do you check your sources, or did you assume?

The textbook definition of news is simply a recent event, information, or intelligence. Please note that there is no mention of interpretation. The word report is equally as simple. It means to give an account. Again, there is no inference to interpretation.

When combined, we have News Report, yet this combination still lacks the biases prevalent in modern broadcasting.

Where, oh where, does the interpretation come from?

I surmise from all available evidence that it is pure hatred of what someone cannot control or own. It stems from the need to vilify the opposition to elevate yourself and distract people from your perceived faults. Criticism provides assurance and asserts dominance.

Though often destructive, hate is a powerful motivator that drives individuals to act against perceived injustices or enemies. It can fuel passion and drive, unite groups through shared beliefs, and inspire creative expression. It’s also associated with harmful behaviors and a sense of impending threat, potentially leading to reactions like avoidance, fear, or even enacting a “first strike” against the perceived hater.

Think of the behavior of the Tesla-Terrorists against Elon Musk’s involvement in Discovering Outrageous Government Excess (DOGE). He is a patriot working for free to make America great again by uncovering egregious waste and fraud in our government. AMP’s hatred causes millions of dollars in damages and causes fear in the vehicle’s owners and dealers who’ve done nothing wrong. Think about what it did to the stock value. Everyone, even the uninvolved, is forced to pay an added price for their purchase and sponsorship. It moves these protestors’ objections from acceptable to criminal.

Think about the Nazi regime and Hitler speeches. His hatred of Jews incited Germans to murder untold millions of people. Numbers range from 6 to 35 million, including many undesirable people and races. The number though damning is considerable; what’s important is that it was caused by rampant hatred and carefully worded rhetoric designed to tip-toe around inciting the faithful to take drastic actions without telling them to do it. His casualties did absolutely nothing wrong. Yet they became the target, the impetus for genocide.

I’m paralleling AMP’s rhetoric and the fine line of free speech and the press, with Hitler’s speeches and calls for action, in the Nazi case, genocide.

The CMC has carefully masked the motivations of the terrorist so far, but eventually the truth will emerge. The CMC and its sponsors are well protected for now, as are those funding the protests and riots. They will ultimately be known, but will we have the intestinal fortitude to prosecute them as complicit, or will the mighty arm of the law remain in its sling?

The CMC identifies their enemies, the target for their faithful to pursue, giving them the chapter and verse of the alleged transgression. This is all the ammunition needed to begin the assault. Have you ever wondered who orchestrated these onslaughts? Curiously, these terrorists and protestors all have matching T-shirts, printed signs, and scripts.

There are no coincidences!

Where is the outcry and the sympathy for those wronged or injured in these AMP-inspired mobilizations?

Incredibly, we exalt the culprit and demonize the victims, all conforming to the cult’s doctrine, the religion. They become the abused and, therefore, worthy of adulation and honor. The victims were collateral damage; they were simply in the way: the means to their ends.

Will anyone in Congress, the opposite of progress, admit culpability, or will they hide behind their First Amendment rights and exalted elected positions?

Is anyone looking for the people who fund AMP’s terrorism?

The US Constitution provides guidelines and rights, not excuses. It implies personal responsibility, not avoidance; too many use the law as a cloak for their contemptible, cowardly, crooked conduct.

The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government – lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.” ~ George Washington (1796)

We’ve lost sight of this fundamental constitutional precept. We’ve allowed what we choose to believe to herd us away from what we should know to what these cults want us to believe. A solid knowledge of the US Constitution is critical for us, we the people, to make informed decisions concerning our republic.

AMPs and the CMCs’ deception through misinformation contrived this religion: The Church of Perpetual Outrage, and consecrated the altar of Righteous Indignation.

Where we choose to worship is profoundly personal, but there will come a time when we will account for our choices and decisions.

Believe what you like, but are you prepared to answer?

Earnestly and Unabashedly

~ The Author ~
Charles R. Dickens was born in 1951, is a veteran of the Vietnam war, for which he volunteered, and the great-great grandson of the noted author, whose name he shares.

He is a fiercely proud American, who still believes this is the greatest country on the planet, with which we’ve lost control and certainly our direction. He grew up in moderate financial surrounding; we’re not rich by any stretch, but didn’t go hungry – his incredibly hard working father saw to that. As most from that era, he learned about life from his father, whose story would take too long to tell, other than to say that, he is also a fiercely proud American; a WWII and Korean war, veteran Marine.

Charlie was educated in the parochial system which, demanded that you actually learn something, and have capability to retain it before you advance. He attended several universities in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree, and chased the goose further to a master’s, and has retained some very definite ideas about education in this country.

In addition, Charlie is a retired blues guitar and vocalist – a musician. This was his therapy career. Nothing brings him as much joy as playing music, and he wishes that he could make a living at it… but alas… life goes on!
