Dickens: A House Divided Cannot Stand!

But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How  then will his kingdom stand?” ~ Matthew 12:22

It essentially means that if a group or entity is internally divided and at odds with itself, it will eventually fail. This idea was famously used by Abraham Lincoln in his “House Divided” speech, arguing that the United States, with its division over slavery, could not endure as a nation.

The biblical quote I used to open this commentary discusses the concept of internal divisions and the warning associated with it in 36 words. The Bible is the most widely recognized repository of wisdom the world has ever known; however, since we consider the Bible a religious text, we disregard its prudence due to the nature of the book itself and its association with religion. If it’s sectarian, it only applies to a narrow-minded segment of society, right?

Yet, regardless of religious views and beliefs, ancient texts archive mankind’s accumulated insight to be shared with subsequent generations, hoping to avoid making the same mistakes. It’s our reliance on information that causes us to repeat these blunders. We’re armed with knowledge and the appropriate academic degrees, yet we fail to apply history’s lessons. We value opinions and the perspectives that shape these subjective views, rather than objective reality and truth. It is this prejudice that precludes our benefit and progress by obscuring wisdom.

Information refers to facts and data, while wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge and experience to make sound judgments. In essence, information is the ‘what,’ and wisdom is the ‘how’ and ‘why’ behind that choice. Wisdom involves understanding the implications of the alternatives and using information effectively and wisely to navigate complex situations. We have the data and facts, but we forego this venerable wisdom and its legitimate use.

Our scholastic degrees tell us that we’re smarter than preceding generations. These degrees deceive us with data replacing the wisdom of previous generations with a bulk and volume of anecdotal academic advice. We believe that the more collegiate honors we possess, the wiser we are. We may know more about our world in every detail, but fail to see how that knowledge applies.

President Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln used the ‘House Divided‘ quote in his speech at the Illinois Republican Convention in 1858, referring to slavery. He said: “I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free.” The War of Northern Aggression – commonly referred to as the “Civil War”- began three years later.

I contend that our internal strife over partisan political power is this century’s slavery issue. Unfortunately, we’re still fighting ethnic divisiveness since much of what we face politically is based on color, not character. I am using color both figuratively and literally. It represents not only pigmentation, but also the alignment with the prejudices that fracture this republic.

Merkans are still slaves, laboring under a yoke of tyranny from their masters in the government, much like the Antebellum South.

The Corporate Media Complex (CMC) is our Overseer, and da Gubmint is ‘da Masa’.

We’s livin’ on da Merkan Plantation.

There have always been, and always will be, issues dividing this republic, one of the most pervasive being ethnicity. The measure of success lies in how we resolve this disunity. Race is the one that defies closure. Partisan politicians view it as the most powerful wedge to use for division and discord. The ‘race card’ is a powerful truncheon to bludgeon your opposition. especially if you’re Black. So far, Merka has been unsuccessful in the racial arena, and Partisan Political Parties want to maintain that status quo.

Some partisan politicians continually play the Race card to garner attention – interestingly, they are usually Black. So. How is it OK to be racist if you’re black, but forbidden for everyone else? Accusing someone of racism reinforces that it’s only applicable when you’re White, but is perfectly acceptable and often applauded if the person is Black. Maxine Waters, no relation to Jesse, and Jasmine Crockett, no relation to Davey, come to mind. This only serves to strengthen the fracture, giving the antagonists power and control. But isn’t that the rationale for politics to begin with? Using force to attain a goal.

Their ends justify the means. don’t they?

If we cannot agree on the issue of illegal immigration as a republic, how will the republic survive?

You see, the issue is unimportant to the partisan politician; it’s their opportunity to reinforce their self-importance, garner admiration, and grab attention. Selecting a moronic position on a critical situation ensures notoriety and a place in the ‘news-cycle’. It’s their 15 minutes of fame. This is not about the collective good; the primary focus is on individual self-interest. Narcissism.

When you solve a problem, your avenue for raising money and getting elected goes away.

The evidence of disunity is apparent in our courts and partisan political parties. I’ve reviewed several polls on this situation and noticed a distinct partisan bias. Generally, the prevailing sentiment is that there should be a
path for those already here to attain legal status, with 60% in favor and 40% against, according to the Pew Research Center, who claim to be objective and unbiased. Wouldn’t that be a reward for an illegal act?

Judge POS Roberts

Curiously, all the research centers, pollsters, media outlets, judges, and politicians claim to be impartial, insisting that any bias exists in the minds of the accusers. These people are simply relaying information in a ‘fair and unbiased’ manner, and in the case of the judiciary, what can I say except that ‘they are above the law.’ Ask any judge.

I’ve used the divided house analogy several times in past articles to emphasize that what Merka faces is a result of our actions, and that external stimuli do not cause it. Our actions may invite these external forces to creep in because they sense our weakness, but the divisions in Merka are primarily a result of our own choices.

These fractures are an invitation to fundamentalist, radical, or extremist organizations to infiltrate our society. It’s an opportunity for them to introduce their ‘solution’ to our problems. They offer an alternative view that manipulates our anger, adding it to their cause and recruiting an already angry internal contingent.

Since you already hate the Great Satan, join our campaign to bring it down together. Allah be praised.”

Already angry students, susceptible to alternative ideologies from their Marxist programming, are ‘sitting ducks’ for a ‘worthy’ crusade against our corrupt administration. This is one reason why the pro-Palestinian and anti-Semitic movements are so prevalent on college campuses.

If you’re not familiar with George Washington’s 1796 comments on the Two-Party System, I encourage you to ask AI for the details. The short version is that two or more parties will align themselves and split the country along ideological and partisan lines to gain control.

It was clear to Washington that “the spirit of party serves always to distract the public councils and enfeeble the public administration. It agitates the community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms, kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasional riots and insurrections.”

That was 229 years ago. One would hope we’d have figured this out by now, but it’s only gotten worse. Refer to the fourth paragraph of this commentary. We have all of the data and facts, but can’t seem to put the wisdom history offers us to good use.

There were a precious few times in the brief history of this republic that we’ve united against an enemy, but they were foreign, not from within. Our struggles against domestic adversaries began long before this republic was formed and continue to this day, remaining largely unacknowledged.

It’s never good enough for us. We always want more, and those endeavors are rarely for the greater good; usually, they are self-serving.

We are a nation of discontented people. We, or our ancestors, came here due to dissatisfaction with the situation in our home country. That’s why we’re here. Some of you can trace your ancestry back to the Pilgrims, while others, like me, whose family came here about 125 years ago, and still others are recent arrivals. They came in legally and assimilated, becoming citizens. Nonetheless, we are here and chronic complainers, and decidedly discontented. It seems that the next generation learns that things are not perfect and joins the legion of the vexed – the irritated and annoyed. We discover the deceit, and that puts us off the America First bandwagon, and we join the cadre of complainers.

“The First Thanksgiving, 1621” by J.L.G. Ferris.

Yet, rather than leave, we stay in Merka as if we had no choice but to endure our new self-induced plight.

Where would we go?

21 million illegal invaders made perilous journeys to Merka. Where would we go if forced to flee, and more importantly, who would take us in? Maybe Mars is the prospective alternative, but that’s decades away. What do we do in the interim?

Sometime ago, I wrote about the Californication of Arizona. Migrants from the People’s Republic of California came to Arizona and brought along their liberal socialist ideas and unwittingly infected this conservative enclave with California’s liberalism. The impact was virus-like; it took a few years to manifest, but it metastasized, nonetheless. Today, Arizona is an Eastern California community with all the attitudes and entitlements of the mother ship.

You can bet dollars to donuts that other countries are aware of Merka’s infectious discontent and would be cautious of having too many of us invade them.

That discontent and our politics follow us wherever we go.

What socio-political impact will 21 million people have on Merkan communities? It has already dominated every news cycle for the past four years. Pundits are reeling and spinning tales of the detriment to communities where Biden’s guests are dumped. The financial and infrastructure impact on these cities has been immense.

Truth, Justice, and the American Way” was a comic-book tagline from Superman commending the mindset of the era.

It was 1938. America’s political climate was characterized by a growing focus on international affairs and a lingering sense of national isolationism, amidst the backdrop of the Great Depression. While the nation was still grappling with domestic issues, the rise of fascism in Europe and Asia, particularly the Japanese invasion of China, captured public attention. The 1938 midterm elections saw Republicans gain seats, signaling a shift in the political landscape and a challenge to President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal agenda.

Along with Jesus on the cross, Superman is among the most recognizable figures in the world. He’s famous not just as a pulpy adventure character but as a symbol of America, embodying its idealized self-image.

Truth, Justice, and the American Way represents the ideals of honesty, fairness, and freedom, which are valued by many, and has become America’s anthem of hope and aspiration.

So, I propose that we abandon that trite phrase and adopt a more realistic and modern phrase.

It’s Never Good Enough, We Need To Change It.”

It epitomizes the 21st-century American Ethos. It must be changed, even if it’s working just fine.

We’ve been distracted by a perpetual partisan political crusade from the beginning.

Welcome to the Rabbit Hole.

AI tells me that “Going down the rabbit hole” is an idiom that means becoming increasingly engrossed or preoccupied with a topic, often to the point of being distracted or lost in it. It’s a reference to Alice in Wonderland, where Alice follows a white rabbit down a hole and enters the strange and whimsical world of Wonderland. One loses track of one’s purpose. In essence, “going down the rabbit hole” refers to becoming entangled in a complex, time-consuming, and often surreal situation or exploration.

The Partisan Political Party Predicament

Welcome to Merka’s Judicial Rabbit Hole

This has been a 250-year journey from the inception of America to where we find ourselves today. It’s never been smooth sailing, always fraught with discontent and unrest. We humans are rarely satisfied for long, seeking to change for the sake of change, to conquer this or that, or something else, waging war on the object of change as if it were the enemy.

Another Merkan enemy dividing us is negativism. We’re predisposed to take the negative side of every event or situation. We’re programmed to assume guilt as determined by the partisan politicians and government, delivered by their handmaidens in the Corporate Media Complex. They are the judge and jury in every case they present. Their bias is remarkably unmistakable and irrefutable. The alignments are so evident that they are invisible to most politically aligned viewers; it’s why they tune in. The faithful need their daily dose of denominational drivel, that is, Partisan Political Party Parlance. It’s their parochial reaffirmation of Party over Province and Might over Morals.

President Biden invited 21 million people to partake in Merka’s bounty, and they came from nearly every country on this rock. Several countries emptied their prisons and asylums onto our border. His monumental fiasco resulted in the loss of 300,000 unaccompanied minors in the process. And as they invaded this country, we assumed responsibility for them. We housed them, fed them, schooled them, healed them, and endured the violence Biden imported with them. We assumed full liability for these 21 million invaders, with $155 billion in costs so far, most of which were borne by cities where they were dumped. But that’s another story.

The most infuriating point in all of this is that now that they’re here, we can’t get rid of them. The Legal Industrial Complex ensures that this problem will never go away. Again, if we solve the problem, the revenue stream dries up. Without 21 million prospective clients, the immigration, civil litigation, and equal rights shysters and public defenders would be out of work, because their lucrative government payments would evaporate.

Now, consider the political implications of this massive influx of 21 million potential voters. The balance of the House of Representatives (HoR) is based on the census data, assigning representation based on the number of people, not citizens, in each district. The expectation is that these new inhabitants will eventually align with the Left due to loyalty, and there are rumblings of granting these immigrants full citizenship rights.

If the Marxists allowed them in and to become citizens; they would naturally vote for the Marxists. If these ‘new’ voters are dumped into Republican districts, they would be expected to align with the party that sponsored them and made them citizens. This would dramatically change the representation in the HoR, almost assuring a Marxist-dominated HoR.

The Marxists would dominate the Mid-Term elections, and pack the Supreme Court with Marxist-sympathetic judges. Game Over!

Progress on the Trump agenda to Make America Great Again would grind to a halt, and any gains to date would be quickly erased. The Obama administration’s fundamental transformation of America would be completed. Merka would then be a Marxist country and would be inundated with immigrants. England made this choice a few years ago. How’s that working out?

Consider the Supreme Court’s notoriety over the past four months. It’s on TV multiple times a day, with its opinions making national news. They’re already the Highest Court in the land – now they’re the most advertised. The name speaks volumes, especially the first word – supreme – in this case, it means omnipotent and omniscient, all-knowing and all-seeing. Their word is the final authority in any legal contest – King Solomon in Merka.

The legal profession in Merka has traded money for morality.

I want to offer special kudos to ‘Pudding-Head Biden’ for creating this enduring clusterfuck in Merka. Who knew that the Syndicate (Cabal) running this country behind the scenes could destroy an entire nation with a few strokes of the autopen?

But then. maybe that was their plan all along.

Yes. They hate Merka and Trump that much.

What journey would you and your family undertake to improve your lives?

Would you leave, or would you remain loyal to the republic that provides seemingly limitless opportunities based on effort?

Or…

Have you joined the legion of the vexed who only complain, never to effect meaningful change?

It’s apparent where I stand. I want meaningful change to make America Great Again, not just for the sake of change, but to make it better.

We’re Merkan’s: “We Need To Change It!

Humbly.

~ The Author ~
Charles R. Dickens was born in 1951, is a veteran of the Vietnam war, for which he volunteered, and the great-great grandson of the noted author, whose name he shares.

He is a fiercely proud American, who still believes this is the greatest country on the planet, with which we’ve lost control and certainly our direction. He grew up in moderate financial surrounding; we’re not rich by any stretch, but didn’t go hungry – his incredibly hard working father saw to that. As most from that era, he learned about life from his father, whose story would take too long to tell, other than to say that, he is also a fiercely proud American; a WWII and Korean war, veteran Marine.

Charlie was educated in the parochial system which, demanded that you actually learn something, and have capability to retain it before you advance. He attended several universities in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree, and chased the goose further to a master’s, and has retained some very definite ideas about education in this country.

In addition, Charlie is a retired blues guitar and vocalist – a musician. This was his therapy career. Nothing brings him as much joy as playing music, and he wishes that he could make a living at it… but alas… life goes on!
