Since the age of probably 9 or so, music – of ALL types have affected and in some cases – directed my life. From Classical to Jazz, Country, early Rock & Roll… The tunes of Mathis, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Junior and so much more… and then Barry Gordy brought us Motown – a form of music that excited me. Forget the Beatles, the Stones and so much of what came after it. What became known as ‘Soul music’ affected me almost from it’s outset – and was far more influential to me during my time in ‘Nam. Interesting, as it was 52 years ago this week that I landed there.
